Better choices available

Make another choice We found the other reviews misleading There was no one who spoke English Hot water was only intermittent While the rooms were large and location great, it dropped to the 40s at night and there was no heat No Wi-Fi in the rooms no help with tours or anything else No food service at all Noisy construction ( which we were not aware of when we booked in October) started by 8:30 am There are many other boutique hotels in the area that would be a better choice

Excellent service and location

The place is very clean and the people are extremely attentive and service orientated. The Zocalo and many points of interest are within 15 minutes of walking distance. As all restaurants and hotels, parking is a problem; you have to leave your car for the valet to take it to a parking lot. Check with the personnel your car before you leave it and when you pick it up. Use common sense. If you go, try to reserve room 107, it is huge and very comfortable.

We absolutely loved our stay and our room. We didn't feel like it was a hotel ... Felt more like a well loved room in someone's home. Archways, beautiful paintings, a private garden terrace were just a few things we loved. Wifi strong, hot water and a tub!!! With a heated floor in the bathroom. Comfy bed, lots of linens and windows to open and enjoy the breeze or a stand up fan of needed. Front desk was super helpful and lots of garden areas to sit and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains, churches and town. Less than a 5 min walk to the main square, a wonderful location.

Amazing stay, perfect location, wonderful staff!

I loved this place! I loved my room, my comfortable bed, how quiet it was, my spacious suite. I loved receiving two waters a day and I loved the staff and the absolutely PERFECT location with easy access to all parts of the city. I walked everywhere and although this hotel is halfway up a hill, it was a trek but not a difficult one. The staff at Casa Quetzal goes over the top to make your stay comfortable. I booked directly with them which the reservation said included a free breakfast. At first, I was told that my reservation did not qualify, but I showed the staff my receipt and they gave me a coupon. (This hotel does not serve breakfast on site). The restaurant they sent me to was about a 10-15 minute walk away (which I did not mind as it allowed me to get a head start on my exploring), however, I've read (from reviews) that some people do not like this. The omelet, tea, juice/fruit that was included at Santiago & Macarena (which is a well-regarded restaurant in the city) was made to order and DELICIOUS. The only drawback here is they are closed on Monday so my last morning I was on my own for breakfast. I was actually okay with that because I found another restaurant I'd been wanting to try, but the reservation did say breakfast included, so the hotel should find an alternative place for Mondays. Also, I traveled during the covid pandemic and there are a lot of restrictions in San Miguel so some of this could have been due to the pandemic. The only thing frustrating about Casa Quetzal is the wifi situation--and the only reason I've made my rating a 4 over a 5. On Casa Quetzal's website, it says there is wifi throughout. However that does not mean in the rooms. I had to sit in the public areas to access their wifi and one night there was a freezing wind and it was so cold that I was very uncomfortable. If Casa Quetzal had wifi in the rooms, I would've rated this place EXCELLENT PLUS! Having expressed that disappointment, had I known the wifi was only near the office/common areas, I may have still booked and would not have been disappointed. I would've known going into the hotel that that was the situation and not expected wifi throughout. Still the price I received for booking directly was very affordable for my budget--especially since the rooms and gardens were clean and beautiful and the location (for me) was ideal. I felt safe. I felt that staff cared about my happiness. Any little issues (like TV not working) were resolved immediately. Staff even stayed later because my shuttle was delayed an hour. They stored my luggage on my last day so it pains me to knock off one point for the wifi. Would I book here again? ABSOLUTELY! It is a great hotel. I wish they would change their website to read that WIFI only available in common/office areas, then people wouldn't expect something difference. If you stay here, I hope you enjoy this sweet hotel as much as I did. Thanks to Angelina and the rest of the staff for all the fantastic customer service. I hope to return someday soon and I will recommend your place to my friends and family traveling to San Miguel

Older Charming Boutique Hotel

Good central location, lush tropical feeling and quiet. All rooms unique. Our room wasn’t ready on our arrival and was not what was requested. They immediately and generously upgraded it to the master suite! Huge bathroom, king size bed with crisp white lines and another room with day bed bed, large cupboards, drawers, double desk work area for lap tops and a table with 4 chairs. BEAUTIFUL! All staff friendly and helpful. There are no amenities but several restaurants nearby from breakfast to fine dining. Basically nice rooms to stay with atmosphere.
