Don’t waste your money.

We arrived on New Year’s Eve, checked in and got shown to a damp room with no cot for our 10month old to sleep in. This resulted in us taking our cases back to reception and threaten to leave if they don’t move us rooms we were then driven around and shown two more rooms which were equally as bad but with it being 3am by this point and having two small children we accepted the room for the night with intention of seeing the tui rep the next day. What was wrong with the rooms? Where do I start. The smell when opening the door nearly knocked us off our feet, it smelt severely damp and mouldy. The shower was full of rust and dirty. Mouse/animal droppings on the balcony (not cleaned up in the full two weeks we were there) We then found the cause of the smell mould/damp all the way up the curtains and on the ceiling. The beds in the room are tiny and uncomfortable. No kettle/coffee machine to make my baby’s formula milk meant that we had to walk to the bar morning and night for hot water for the baby’s milk. Sharp cracked tiles on the floor Whilst there we never once saw anyone clean the pool and on day 9 of our holiday we had to take our 5yr old daughter to the hotel doctors for an ear infection which resulted in a £200 cost. The staff in the restaurants and bar can’t do enough to be fair. But only if tipped well. There was no snack bar open and half the restaurants were closed. The food was very basic and bland which is to be expected in all inclusive holidays but it seemed to be very repetitive which lead us to eating the same thing day in day out. When we spoke to reception and concierge about our concerns we were laughed off and told to see our tui rep. This hotel is not as shown in the pictures advertised. It should not be advertised as a 4* and shouldn’t come with a 4* price tag.

well where do i ,start . we came to this resort 2 years ago and loved it , but since then it as gone from a 5 star to a basic 2 star hotel ...we had a piece of wood to keep the patio doors shut , the patio door itself was broke , we had problems with room service not leaving enough water , what else??? the 24 hr snack bar that was there in the brochure was none existent , it was quite frankly not worth the money we paid , and the entertainment at night was horrendous...dont get me wrong the staff do their best and Samuel at the beach bar went out of his way every day but there was just that little thing lacking , i go back to the water issue , it took me 3 days to resolve , concierge , manager and then their manager to resolve a basic thing as water in the room , and the food was disgusting , it got to a stage where all we ate for breakfast was beans on toast with a boiled egg , and the evening meal , well lets say it was so bland that we hardly ate ,, i am saddened that i have to write this , but brits be aware

First of all I have to say the service that the employees pay to you is top notch. We had exceptional service in the buffet from Servando, Francisco, Samuel, and Blanca. They literally made our trip so much better, and provided everything and more. The driver Aldo was always quick, super fun and nice. Shout out to Melody in the activities department, very sweet. The food was not good unless they were serving authentic Mexican, then it was amazing. The buffet is always going to be an odd array of salad, the only fruit you’ll find is cantaloupe, papaya and honey dew melon. There *might be a pasta or a carving station, but every thing is very stale. The rest will be an odd assortment of random stews and steamed burgers and fries. Be prepared for lots of melted cheese whiz. Everywhere. The dessert will be like 6 different cakes, flavoured whipped cream, and ice cream. Now for the restaurants, we only got to try 3 restaurants three times each over our THREE week stay. They are either booked, are closed for private parties for the circle one members, and honestly serve the same stuff as the buffet just plated. Room service is quick and speedy, but don’t expect anything crazy. All random dishes. The snack bar, and the black and white bar serve food. Be prepared for A LOT of hot dogs and hamburgers. We booked with sunwing, wouldn’t recommend again. Also when booking excursions, ask how long the commute time is! We went snorkeling and commuted 3 hours one way by van, then the ferry to Cozumel, and then a packed boat ride to the other side of the island. And then three hours back, we snorkelled for a total of 35 minutes lol. The resort itself is super clean and big, pools are very clean and the resort as a whole is very large. But it’s sooo expensive when you actually get there, a bag of chips is 8$ at the gift shop, the sun lotion is 20$ as well and this is in US currency. The alcohol you get is going to be some cheap whole sale stuff, UNLESS you upgrade to circle one for more benefits or whatever. The bartenders though, work with what they have and always make an amazing drink. They are always fun and super fast! If someone comes up to you to come to breakfast for a free bottle of tequila and necklace, just say nope no thank you and walk away. They are trying to sell you on a resort package with a type of travel agency. Don’t waste your time. Getting into the city is very expensive but it’s so much fun. Very safe, and lots to do! Hit up Alux for a truly magical dining experience. All in all, this is the perfect resort for a 5 day spring break. Anything longer you’ll get irritated just by the lack of choice in food, lack of amenities, and how expensive it is to get to and back from playa del Carmen.

We spent 14 days at blue bay grand esmeralda and it ws awesome! The activities that the animacion team offered was very fun. They had afternoon and night activities that made our vacation much more fun. Thanks to Wilber, Jesus and the rest in the animacion team!

We traveled to Blue Bay in November and it was one of the most wonderful experience we had. The staff were amazing from the moment we got there. Service and food were top notch. Great customer service throughout our entire trip. Margarito, Jesus, Eduardo, Eduardo (bar sever) We were sad to leave. They made us feel like family. Looking forward to going again every year. Thank you 😊
