Too noisy and poor service

The hotel rooms were large and clean. However, our rooms were ver noisy. Not only could we hear the train at all hours, whenever anyone pulled their luggage outside our room, there was a loud clacking house that woke us up. Our toilet was plugged, but no one answered our phone calls at the front desk/housekeeping/operator for over 2 hours. We finally had to go down to the front desk to ask for help. At checkout, I was told I would be given a 1 day credit for the problems during out stay, but I was billed the full amount...NO CREDIT. When I called customer service, they opened a case file for me stating I would be contacted within 48 hours. It has now been 5 days.


Overpriced rooms and poor service

We stayed here for a night and felt the rooms are of poor quality. The bath tub stopper didn't work and after waiting a while maintenance showed up to take a look. The technician said he would be back with a new one and never came back. We called the front desk and they offered no apology, and when I said its too late in the night now, he said they could leave a stopper in front of the room and I could screw it in the tub myself. Surprisingly poor and apathetic service for a 500 + dollar room and resort charge. On the plus side there is a nice swimming pool and its right on the pier so has good views if you get one of those rooms.


Best service at The Set Restaurant and Bar

On December 25th, we received outstanding service from the wait staff and Manager on duty at The Set restaurant at the Hilton SB property. We were not staying at the hotel, but our family of four +two dogs needed last minute dinner reservations. We arrived cold and wet from the rain outside to find no outside seating available due to the poor weather. We asked the hostess if they could accommodate our party with two medium sized dogs. The restaurant and bar were busy, but after checking with several other staff and the restaurant manager they were able to put us on the wait list and seat us within 20 mins. The staff and manager were incredibly kind, understanding and courteous throughout the evening. They truly made what could have been a miserable evening into a very happy and memorable Christmas dinner for our family. Cannot thank the manager and wait staff enough for going above and beyond. Thank you.


Should have been better, especially for a Hilton property...

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort from Dec 10 through Dec 13, 2021. The hotel property is beautiful, the lobby area and restaurant was nice. But... it was the room that left a lot to be desired. Upon entering our room (a junior suite), my wife went into the bathroom to put out some of our things on the counter and noticed that the bathroom was VERY dirty. There were urine stains around the toilet and on the wall. Lipstick stains on the sink counter and the floor had lots of hair (NOT ours) on it. Then we looked around the room and it, too was not as clean as it should have been. Ironically, there was a sticker on the bathroom mirror stating how "Hilton prides itself in ultra sanitary cleaning procedures". Not sure where those "ultra sanitary procedures" were... certainly not in our room. I went down to the main desk and spoke with Manager on duty, Kezai Jones. We sat in the chairs in the lobby as I calmly explained our extreme disappointment at the condition of the bathroom and our room. Kezai was very nice and sincerely apologized and promised that a cleaning crew would go up to the room while we sat at the bar in the restaurant and had a bite to eat and a few drinks. He also gave us a $50 dining credit, 2 complimentary breakfast vouchers, four additional "free house wine" vouchers, and took $150 off our bill for the room. Even though, my intent in discussing the room condition was NOT to get "free stuff", but rather to just inform them of the condition of the room and get it cleaned, his offers were very much appreciated. The next day.... I went into the shower only to find that the temperature control knob (this was a shower that also had body spray jets and consequently, a separate temperature knob in the middle with the water temperature marked on it) did not work!! It spun and spun and didn't change the temperature (which was ice cold, by the way). Luckily, I realized that I could actually grab the inner ring and it would turn and adjust the temperature. Again, down to the front desk to talk to a Manager, but none was available. The front desk person promised that they would get the knob repaired. They did not get it repaired because it "needed parts that had to be ordered", and offered to move us to a different room. But, because we had MANY suitcases and were checking out the next day, we decided to stay in the existing room since I was able to adjust the temperature. After we checked out, I mentioned to my wife that spending $650 per night, one would think that the rooms would be in better shape, cleaner, and more updated. I think it's time for the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort to to an introspective look around at their guest rooms and perhaps an upgrade is warranted.


Corporate greed on an unparalleled level

This is a beautiful property in a beautiful setting. The rooms are spacious and the staff is very friendly. It is a little neglected and things like door locks don’t work, the paint is chipping, and the parking gate didn’t work. We have been coming here many years and all of these small things didn’t bother me because it was family friendly and dog family. In general it was a pleasant, relaxed place in a beautiful setting. But, this trip we ran dead into corporate greed. The higher level management decision making policies at Hilton are really bad. I planned ahead and reserved three ocean front rooms for my family reunion over the holidays. While we were there, a water main broke and flooded our rooms. We were forced to evacuate during the middle of the night and the Hilton absolutely refused to compensate us for this inconvenience. I was absolutely dumbfounded. Not a single penny was returned to us. No free night stay was offered to us. They billed us full price as if nothing had happened. Believe me, I have a really bad taste in my mouth after this experience and I will think twice about staying at any Hilton property again.
