Historic hideaway in the jungle

Reviewed 19 june, 2022

This hacienda has some beautiful historic touches, like the floor tiles and stained glass lamps. There are informational displays all over telling about famous guests over the years, like the historians Stephens and Catherwood and American icon Jackie O. The mattresses could stand to be replaced and the bathroom could use an update, but we were comfortable and it was good for the price. The staff was very friendly. The manager came by to greet us personally at both dinner and breakfast. Occupancy was low so they gave us the option of choosing which property to stay at and they ended up giving us an end unit with a huge picture window. They also told us there was no rush to check out, so we did a late check out with no additional fee. You can easily walk to the Uxmal entrance from here or drive across the two-lane highway to the sister property (Lodge at Uxmal) to shave some walk time off your visit. There's a planetarium that shows a history of the Mayas and the Choco Story museum is practically on site.

Great place and perfect for visiting Uxmal

Reviewed 8 june, 2022

We spent one night here, before visiting Uxmal. It’s low season and so the place was very quiet. I was initially a bit unsure from previous reviews during low season about pools being out of service and the fact dinner is in an offsite restaurant. In fact, we think we loved it all the more because it was low season. The hacienda is beautiful, and really historic. The room was spotlessly clean and had the most amazing view. The sounds of the jungle are fabulous and you can spend ages just sitting and listening. The main pool was great (the only pool open) and the bar tender (I didn’t catch his name) made us the best cocktails we’ve had in Mexico at a very reasonable price for a high end place (around 150MXN). Dinner was over the road and was good (not amazing) but service was excellent. Breakfast was served at the hacienda but not included in our room price (around 300 MXN pp). It’s the perfect location for visiting Uxmal - a five min walk to the ticket office. The hacienda arranged a guide for us who was great (we really recommend getting a guide). The main reason we stayed at the hacienda was so we could get to Uxmal early and it was well worth it - for the first hour there was only one other person there.

Beautiful, Tranquil and Friendly

Reviewed 4 june, 2022

A few years ago, pre-pandemic, I stayed at this property and it was lovely and lively. This time, my friend and I were the only guests one of two nights. We were treated like royalty. Unfortunately the bar and restaurant were not open, but the sister property across the road at the Uxmal Entrance had a restaurant & bar. There was a severe thunderstorm that took the power out for 3 hours at night that resulted in a symphony of nature that was splendid! Once that waned it was back to tranquility. The staff, Marco, Luis & Bursain were so accomodating and friendly We can't wait to return!!!

Wonderful Location and Peaceful

Recommend the hotel for its location. Room was comfortable, large and clean. We had the last room (so long walk) on the second floor, which was larger than most and had a field view, plus a king sized bed. Very few people staying at the hotel. Breakfast was at the hotel, and dinner at their sister property across the street.

Incredible expierence! Loved every moment of it!

Staying at the Hazienda in Uxmal has been incredible beautiful. It‘s time travel through history. If one could only close their eyes and go back in time to see/feel what life was like including meeting people of the past. The rooms are beautiful, the service is excellent, the guides as well. I can highly recommend touring Uxmal with a knowledgable, well prepared, multilingual guide named Orlando as well as taking a tour in a vintage Land Rover and learn about the Hacienda as well as Mayan legends with Luis. The night show at Uxmal is a must, dont skip seeing it at day and night! We d love to come back one day especially for my daughter when horses will roam the hacienda again. We d love to ride across the land and discover more! We also really enjoyed the Sopa de Lima at the restaurant as well as the Chaya fish. The eggs, many fruits and vegetables are harvested from the land and taste delicious! Muchas Grazias for an incredible experience and stay at the Hazienda Uxmal!
