Feels New

Reviewed 8 november, 2021

Didn't really have any trouble finding the place, other than the entrance. We were really impressed with how nice the lobby was and the overall quality of the hotel. Looked either new, or at the very least semi-recently renovated. Each room has it's own little name, though I'm not sure there's any special design to differentiate them from each other. The room was very nice, but also very small. To be there for a couple days is fine, but if you had like 1 week's worth of clothing and 2 people, you'd be a little hard pressed to keep the place from being a total mess. The AC worked really well, but unfortunately the in room mini-fridge didn't work and the iPod dock/radio thing didn't even have a plug in, it seemed to just be there for show. Those two things didn't bother me, but at least in my room, 201, which I believe was right above the lobby, the wifi didn't work. Connected sometimes, but wasn't really usable if it did, then the connection would drop. All that being said, again the property was really nice and didn't cost an arm and a leg. There was also a restaurant on the 6th floor, which I'm not sure really makes sense. I feel like they could've had 2-3 more rooms instead of an unproductive restaurant. But I didn't try the food, maybe it's great! Just seemed unnecessary. 5th floor features a nice little sundeck and covered open air area with tables and a bit of a bar. This area was a very good idea. A pool might have been preferable but the hotel is on a really small footprint. The rooftop deck has 2 cold water jacuzzi's, first time I've ever seen that, but in the climate of Santa Marta, probably a good idea. Hotel is only about 5 minutes walking from the beach and even at night we weren't at all worried about security walking back to the hotel. I'm not sure I'll be back in Santa Marta any time soon but I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Perla Suite again.

El Mariachi at 1am in the morning?

Reviewed 26 july, 2019

A really nice hotel with cool rooftop terrances and jacuzzis. Room was clean and spacious. The location of the hotel is outside the busy end of town. We only stayed one night before flying home. It was disappointing that the hotel allowed El Mariachi to play for 20 minutes at 1am in the morning. It noise felt like there was a concert going on in the next room.

Overpriced but still nice

Reviewed 10 july, 2019

The hotel itself was nice and the decor is clearly relatively new. The staff were helpful and nice however only one woman who worked at reception spoke Spanish. That meant that when our WiFi wasn't working (literally 80% of the time) it was really difficult to explain and get a resolution. The fact that the WiFi barely worked combined with the fact that the rooms were not cheap is why I am only giving an average rating.

We stopped at this lovely hotel for one night before exploring the Tayrona National Park. It is very well appointed, clean, quiet and the front desk staff is very welcoming and professional. I would definitely go back

Nice retreat

For European standard verry good price-quality balance. We loved our stay in this clean and comfortable hotel. All members of the staff were verry friendly and kind and did all their efforts to make your stay as pleasant as possible and try to fulfill all of your wishes. Rooms are spacious, modern, comfortable and clean. Good, hot shower. Nice rooftop terras and bar with relaxing Jacuzzi. We decided 1 night to eat in the restaurant and were pleasently surprised by the tasting food! We would definetely come again!
