The Pousada Só Alegria was born from a dream, "The construction of an inn on the beach". And the pleasure to receive well, turned out to be the great differential. The name "Just Joy" came from Roman's way of life, and the inn could have no other name. He is, in fact, a person who infects guests and staff with his joy. The pousada, facing the sea, is located in São Miguel do Gostoso, one of the most beautiful beaches of Rio Grande do Norte; and is run by the owners Romano and Fatima who are at the head of a team of kind, attentive and very well trained staff. Everything was planned with atte...More details

Great Location. Missed the Mark

Have to give the So Alegria one star for the location alone. It fronts a magnificent wide open and almost deserted beach, even during a holiday week.. The wind surfers and locals really set the scene. Also, the So Alegria gets good marks for being within close walking distance to many of the TA highest ranking food and drinking establishments. Another star goes to the hard working staff, they are doing their best, with varied degrees of success in dealing with the recent crush of the Brazilian 1%. Most all are friendly, with the front desk staff being exceptional. Even the owner Romano spent some time chatting with us daily. They handled an unfortunate check in situation well. Due to a late check out by other guests, our check in was 2 hours late. We had come directly from New Year's eve celebration in Rio, 7 hour flight with a connection plus a 1.5 hour drive from Natal, we were beat. So we were extra cranky when our room wasn't ready. We needed a shower and a beach. They handled it professionally though, with updates and with the owner comping a very good lunch in the hotel bistro. The property itself is comfy, but run down and in need of a face lift. We spent around US$200 a night for a large room. bedroom and kitchen downstairs, master bedroom upstairs. It was beach basic and sparse, but the beds were comfy and the air conditioning was fine. The wifi both at the pool and rooms was pretty good to. I would consider this a value as with two families, or a large family, your share would be half what we paid. The So Alegria in the end didn't really live up to its website and the TA ratings from other visitors. I do understand that Gostoso is a rising tourist beach town and that transition in Brazil is not always easy for a small town. But my wife is from Brazil and I speak Portuguese, so we were able to speak with locals and get other recommendations for what is sure to be a return trip. In the end, my final rating is always "would we return" to the So Alegria when back in Gostoso? And in this case the answer is no.
Nice people but looks run down

We arrived and the room was not available at the check in time. We waited two hours. The employees are nice and try their best to make you happy. The pousada needs a face lift. I think they are not putting any money back in the premises so looks run down. The furniture is old, the plumbing does not work all the time. They charge for the beach towel! Breakfast is very simple with no real juices. I would consider coming back to São Miguel do Gostoso but would stay in another pousada. The web site has old pictures they are not current. They were probably taken at least 5 years ago.
A fun place nearly on top of the beach, with true Brazilian charm

After a three night stay in Pipa,we wanted something with a little less flair. At first glance, the Pousada didn't impress. But,the ever so cute gals at the front desk window, and the innocence of their charm won me over.A more rustic room with Spartan like atmosphere, seemed perfect for our needs. An upper deck, quaint little restaurant, and a ten meter walk to the sand was befitting our desires. Our breakfast was delicious and simple.Dinner here was very good as well. The town ,compared to Pipa, seemed almost without any flavor. But,this being my first experience in this wonderful country,I choose not to inflict any negative judgement when I have little or nothing to compare it to.All in all,an inexpensive charming respite on a quiet little street.Yes,charming enough to come back to
Great place to relax

The place in terms of space is not too large. Só them decided to invest in the infraestrutura within the place. Everything is quite well designed and of tou have a chance to afford the flats ir will be a even nice experience. The flats are really confortable and cosy. The breakfast is good. The staff is friendly and well trainned. This pousada is quite close to the beach. The downside is that the flats are close to a kind of night club/bar and I heard loud music sometimes at bedtime.
Best in Town

Just on the beachfront, it has beach service and open to the outside public. The food at Malagueta restaurant was delicious, the rooms are spacious, it has a swimming pool and a terrace with sea views. The beach is a paradise, empty, white sand, blue sea as far as you can see... This is worth one night if you are staying in Natal for 3 nights.
