The good, the bad, not for everyone
Reviewed 25 September, 2021
We're retired. We travel. A lot. We belong to Marriott, Hilton, and IHG. We like IHG because they are everywhere and quality is generally good. This was our first experience with Avid. This property is new, clean, modern looking, and the staff was very friendly. The rooms are well lit and the bath is stocked with JR Watkins dispensers. There is an ironing board and iron. Also a large tv.That's the good.
The bad for us is strictly subjective and I found nothing that would keep someone from loving the place.
The first thing is no entry canopy so if there's a typical southern frog choker rain, you and your luggage will get drenched running for the lobby door. The rooms are pretty stark. Besides the beds, there is an office chair, a shelf to use as a desk, another shelf between the beds, and a small storage cube. The walls are bare. The frdge is smaller than a college dorm model, and there are no drawers or closets. Instead there's a bar along the wall with hooks. No microwave or coffee maker. They are in the lobby, as is the only ice machine. I guess this is done to save money, but for the exact same price, we could have stayed in the Holiday Inn right down the road and had all of the above, plus other amenities. For a multi-night stay, we missed having all of that. I guess millenials or folks wanting a nice place to spend a night will like the colorful hostel or college dorm feel.
Perfect stop over spot

We needed a place to stop over in the Savannah area, and Avid fit the bill, perfectly.
I knew this was a new hotel- I didn't know it was only one week old (which was actually pretty cool). Everything had that "new hotel" smell. The front desk ladies were friendly and helpful.
I used points for this stay, so I can't say how pricing is (although 16,000 points was an absolutely fair price point, in my opinion).
The lobby is just really nice, fresh and bright, very welcoming. They offer 24 hour fresh coffee (the machine grinds the beans and makes you a fresh cup) as well as staff for tea, fresh or sparkling water. They offer a free "grab and go" type breakfast- lots of choices: cereal (and milk), yogurts, granola bars, fruit, Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, bagels. There's a toaster and a microwave.
The rooms are small- really small. This was not an issue for us, but I can already see people possibly complaining about that. This hotel isn't for a family of 4, I don't think. But for a couple- it's perfect. Small as the rooms are, still perfect for 2 people. Comfortable bed. Small fridge. Huge TV. And my personal favorite thing for any hotel to do- NO carpeting!!! (throw rugs are fine- carpeting just grosses me out- ewww).
Bathroom was nice, well lit, good shampoo/condition provided. Hairdryer and steam iron, if you need them, are in the room (and an iron board).
No pool (again- not really for families, and not being a fan of community pools, this was not a problem for me). Small gym (which ok, I didn't use lol).
Oh- and for ice- the ice machine is right in the lobby and they have ice buckets with liners right next to the ice maker. I've not seen that anywhere else, and I think that's a great system. It's the little (smart) touches that make a place that you want to return to.
There's a few good places to eat very close by (and way more if you want to drive a few miles). Right off the high way, so perfect if you are traveling 95.
This is defiantly my "go to" whenever I need to stop over in Savannah.
Nues Hotel, aber schlechter unfreundlicher Service
Reviewed 19 September, 2021
