Perfectly located near the River Street

Our stay at the Residence inn was pleasant but with a few hiccups. The hotel and the room was very clean, spacious and welcoming. The staff were helpful and sweet as well. The hotel is located within a 1 mile distance to the River Street, which makes it very convenient to just walk up to the near by shops, restaurants and attractions. There was complimentary hot breakfast served, however, the menu was same on both of the days that we were there. Also, though their website does mention about a restaurant on the property, but probably due to the pandemic situation, it was all closed. Further, their website did mention the parking fee as $20 a day, but when we received the final bill, they had charged us $30. On asking them, they did apologize about the confusion and stated that they had just increased the fee. However, we were told that we would be charged only the $20, but they adjusted the price only for a day. Irrespective of the everything, it was good stay especially due to its location.
Worst Hotel Ever!

We traveled to the south east on a 2 week vacation. When we arrived at the hotel we were checked into a room that had the plastic coating on the headboard all chipped off. I would throw this out if it were in my home. This was not the worst, though! One night when returnin to our room our door would not open and we waited until maintainence came to fix the door and open it. The next day, this occurred again!!!! We were locked out of our room!!! We went to complain to the manager and he was engaged in a conversation to another tourist going over all the spots of interest in Savannah. We waited patiently, but after he saw we were standing there for over 45 minutes and continued to ignore us, we decided to just call him. He never came to the phone and the front desk clerk told us she had talked to him and he was going to give us Marriott points that would give us a free stay somewhere else. 4 months later, we still do not have the reward points and we gave up contacting him because he NEVER responded!
Southern Hospitality at its Finest!

As a Marriott Titanium Guest, my buddy and I spent three nights at The Residence Inn Savannah Downtown / Historic District using Marriott Bonvoy Points to enjoy the beauty that is Savannah in the Early Fall (two weeks before Halloween). We took our two (2) bicycles with us from home so we were able to bike all around Savannah, including throughout the entire Historic District, Forsyth Park, the Bonaventure Cemetery as well as Tybee Island. Prior to our arrival, General Manager, Anthony Trice, and Assistant General Manager, Selina D. White, and their staff worked hard to accommodate our Special Requests and we really appreciated their best efforts to make our stay extraordinary. We were provided a very spacious one (1) bedroom suite on the first floor for the duration of our stay, which was well-equipped with a full kitchen (which we used every night for dinner), two distinct sleeping areas, two (2) large flat screen TVs, a full bathroom and convenient to both the complimentary morning breakfast as well as the side door of the hotel on West Harris Street (facing the Savannah Visitor's Center), which offers complimentary street parking. We kept our vehicle parked on this street, immediately adjacent to our suite, for the duration of our stay and we had no issues in doing so. It was a real treat to be able to look out any of the windows in our suite to 'check' on our vehicle anytime! The complimentary morning breakfast spread was fantastic when we arrived each morning when it opened to avoid any large crowds, to have the best selection and to allow us to get on our bicycles as soon as possible each day. The breakfast spread included all you can eat "make-your-own" waffles, scrambled eggs, some type of breakfast meat (bacon, ham or sausage),, a wide variety of cereals (including oatmeal), biscuits, bagels, toast, fresh fruit (bananas / apples), yogurt, coffee, tea, apple juice, cranberry juice, orange juice and water, It was a great way to start the day! We really enjoyed using the BBQ grill* in the outdoor courtyard patio area, which had a fire pit, an in-ground heated pool (we swam daily) and numerous seating areas plus we took full advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen every day for dinner. * We grilled burgers, chicken and sausage using the BBQ grill ... they were exquisite and we definitely attracted a lot of attention from other hotel guests whom were jealous that they failed to plan ahead to take advantage of this incredible amenity. The Residence Inn Savannah Downtown / Historic District is very convenient to the Savannah Historic District and we were easily able to walk everywhere, including to all twenty-two (22) of the squares in the Historic District, River Street, Forsyth Park as well as our post-dinner walk each night for our daily fix of Leopold's Ice Cream at 212 E Broughton Street. In short, this hotel is perfect located for a visit to the Savannah Historic District, especially when you consider the plentiful complimentary street parking on West Harris Street, immediately adjacent to the hotel. As a matter of fact, we quickly and easily loaded and unloaded by using the side door of the hotel. All in all it was a an incredible stay at The Residence Inn Savannah Downtown / Historic District and we thank Mr. Trice and Ms. White for welcoming my buddy and me to their hotel and spoiling us with their genuine Southern hospitality!

The rooms were nice, clean, roomy, and comfortable. It was a reasonable walking distance from the historic district and trolley tours, being that it was located on the edge of the touristy area. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Solid choice; excellent service

We chose this hotel for a long weekend based on the reviews and that it had a much better points redemption choice than some of the other Marriott properties nearby. Like many reviewers have shared, the 'service' shines through. They are all so pleasant, and it just puts everyone in a great place! The location is good, on the border of the Historic district, and away from River street. You can walk just about anywhere, but best to study a map and chart the course before just wandering. The rooms were clean, well appointed, and the bed was more comfortable than other Residence Inns we've stayed at. The only downside is that the 'free breakfast' is quite popular, so it's better to visit on the earlier side for better selection.
