Great experience

This hotel was very clean and all the staff we interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Gave great restaurant recommendations and directions to where we needed to go. Breakfast was great too. We had a service dog with us and he was welcome as well. Great stay and if in the area again will definitely stay here again.

Poor Customer Service
Reviewed 6 november, 2022
Called Sunday morning to edit my reservation and the gal on the phone working customer service spoke rough english. I was verifying that there were two beds in the room and she told me the hotel policy could not guarentee the number of beds in a room. I asked to talk to the front desk and the gal on the phone couldn't speak proper englsih. I gave her my acknowledgement number and she only wanted numbers and I gave her the numbers but apparently she told me to settle down and not to get too excited. I was excited because that was the ref. number I was given. I asked to speak to someone who could speak english and she said sure and hung up on me. I will be canceling my reservation and going elsewhere.

Not a fan—couldn’t leave fast enough

My room was not cleaned completely between my stay and the previous guest—the TRASH was not emptied and there were empty bottles behind the tv & on the floor by the couch. The Wi-Fi was a hassle (an issue for all guests attending the same conference on site as me). Only water on property was at the Starbucks and I waited in line one morning for 40 minutes to buy a tea (nothing else nearby or walkable to grab a drink from). I did ask the front desk to have my trash emptied after the first night (my room was not cleaned during my two night stay) and some glitch then occurred when they then marked my room as vacant—they had me now listed in a different room, which was occupied by a different guest. A hassle for my WiFi & guest record. Mya at the front desk was lovely —the only nice thing I can say about this place. Would not recommend.

The hotel is generally ok but as to be expected with a convention hotel it is not perfect. All the staff I had contact with were pleasant and helpful. The beds were comfortable. The general ambience of the establishment is pleasant and services are delivered efficiently. There is a sign in the reception lobby that advises the hotel was dedicated in 2006. It seems that the architects were given licence to design a spectacular front entrance. At the time the entrance lobby concept may have been fashionable. Now it looks like the entrance to one of saddam hussein’s palaces - gaudy and over the top. Design can be a personal thing but the hotel should remove the pointless energy consuming radiant heaters over the entrance door. To also be kinder to the environment, ensure the hotel’s bus driver does not leave a driverless bus with the engine running. Consider fitting detectors to the many escalators on site so they do not consume energy when not being used. The whole site including the convention centre needs an environmental audit and action. One annoyance I have in Marriott chain hotels is the gap under bedroom entrance doors. Whatever is done to reduce inter-room noise is offset by noise transmission to corridors. I enjoyed the restaurant but maybe some more modern food options including vegetarian options and healthy choices. It is easy to complain about hotels when at this time sourcing staff and other issues must be a challenge. The renaissance is however generally clean and efficient but the corporate suits do need a check on environmental issues.

Great convention centre at hotel

The Renaissance Hotel and Convention Cte is only 25 minutes from Chicago O’Hare airport. It’s a very large hotel but somewhat isolated. There is a shuttle service to some restaurants but it does NOT run at the weekend which is annoying as only one restaurant in the hotel. Rooms average. Lobby area good.
