To be good or excellent a property needs in my view to be one shape or form. Something to remember. The Marriott here is just fine….clean, quiet, safe, good sized rooms…..but it’s simply average, nothing special.
Notable: I got no room cleaning at all in 4 nights. For non US residents the breakfast is really not that good. Typical US plastic fantastic….processed cheese, vacuum packed mass produced, sugar loaded rubbish, that they say is free because no one in their right mind would pay for it….at least the cooked part is Ok. And crappy coffee, but that’s a national problem…..
Fine for a short stay….

Trapped in Chicago, Monday morning when American and Spirit Airlines flight cancellations were dropping out of the sky causing hundreds if not thousands of passengers to be stranded in Chicago with a cascade of cancellations spanning the United States, the Residence Inn of Schaumburg was our savior. Our connecting flight to San Diego from New York was cancelled. We were stuck. It took us 2 ½ hours to get to the American customer service desk where they managed to do a couple of things. First they re-booked us on a flight through Denver to San Diego on Tuesday and get us a room for the night at the Residence Inn Schaumburg. The flight through Denver was canceled before we made it to the hotel but the hotel itself was magnificent.
The front desk clerk was a breath of fresh air. She had our room keys ready immediately. She also gave us a list of local restaurants for dinner as well as directions to the nearest Trader Joe’s so that we could purchase some wine, which was desperately needed. In our confused state, she even walked us outside to the street to point us in the right direction. We found a Costco’s first where we purchased the wine. When we returned, she found us a bottle opener and gave us a bag of ice.
The suite was spacious with a living/dining area, a separate bedroom and bathroom. The bed was comfortable and you could not hear a sound outside. Breakfast was offered in the morning but we had to leave by 5:00 AM so we missed it.
When we checked out, the morning people were at the desk. They were equally personable. We had an extra bottle of wine from Costco. We gave it to the morning people to give to the night clerk, with a personal note of thanks. They assured us that she would get it.

We are loyal Marriott customers and frequently stay at Residence Inns. We were at this property for five nights and I can honestly say we were disappointed in this particular property. Upon check in, we found the room not up to the standards we are used to getting with Marriott. It appeared the carpet wasn’t vacuumed as there were things all over it including and empty water bottle. There were stickers on the picture in the bedroom and on the door to the room….obviously placed there by a child but nevertheless should have been removed. The kitchen wasn’t stocked very well. I think there were only utensils for 3-4 people but no dish soap provided for washing dishes. Went looking for a cookie sheet to reheat some food and found a dirty one in the over which was growing mold so who knows how long it had been since it was washed. Just gross! We also found water on the floor around the toilet. At first I thought it was from the floor being mopped but after I dried it, it came back. Reported the toilet leaking to the front desk the day we arrived and it was still leaking the days we left. Someone did come at some point and put a new toilet seat on since the lid wasn’t attached to the old one. There was caulk around the bases of the toilet so I assume that’s what they did instead of actually fixing the problem. Nothing like getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom only to step on a wet floor. 🙁. On the positive side, it’s a good location and near many restaurants and shopping areas. Easy access to the interstate too.

Stayed a night in this hotel based on pool availability and covid restrictions, one hour pool use per family. Booked a 2 bedroom suite which has a good amount of space. The hotel staff was extremely nice and accommodating to requests although we requested a high floor and were placed on the first.
The room could have been cleaned better, found a hot wheels under a table in the living room in plain sight and hairs on the floor of the bathroom. Beds are relatively firm so uncomfortable for us. The fireplace in the 2 bedrooms only runs for 15 minutes but then quit working by the next am, notified the front desk but did not request a fix as we were leaving soon. Coffee in the rooms horrible, unsure if coffee maker was functioning properly but looked like tea and didn't taste like coffee at all.
Was a little disappointed the buffet wasn't available(covid, not hotel's fault) but ordered local to-go breakfast and enjoyed the juices and coffee offered for breakfast.
Lastly, had an issue with using a gift card and paying the rest on my card. Was assured that it was taken care of but on review of my bank statement after the visit showed I was charged the full amount instead of the amount minus the gift card. Have contacted the hotel and was assured it was resolved and I should be seeing a refund shortly, Will update.
Overall for a quick visit to Schaumburg I thought with the price it was a good option for one night, any more nights I would definitely book somewhere with more comfortable beds but the space and kitchen are always an appeal.

We moved to this hotel from a different Schaumburg hotel that wasn’t following proper safety measures during covid. We were so happy that not only was this hotel clean, all of the employees were wearing masks. Kristy and Carrie went over the top in making sure we were welcomed into a safe and clean environment. Thank you so much for all of your help! When we can travel for leisure again, Marriott has gained a loyal customer. Until then, we will use Marriott for all business needs and encourage our friends and coworkers to do the same. Thank You!!!!
