Above and beyond

The hotel is super clean. The breakfast is delicious. But the most remarkable is the owner. He was more than kind to look for a place to eat on a Sunday evening, where most restaurants were closed. He kindly drove us to the only open pizzeria and made sure they had a table for us. He also came to fetch us and take us to the hotel an hour later. Very strongly recommended.
A hidden gem

Exhausted and starved, we wound up here by accident, having believed our booking to be in Basel (CH). It was one of the best wrong turns we ever took.
Family run, the owner-operators went out of their way to make us and our two seven-year-old boys feel at home, going so far as to offer small toys between courses at dinner
As for dinner itself, I do not exaggerate when I say it was the finest dining we had in all of our 4 week European trip.
We arrived at dusk, so it was only over breakfast that we realised the lovely occasion, unassuming but sparkling beside the river and fields.
Nice Hotel, quiet Atmosphere

I am travelling a lot and this is really a nice place to stay. The restaurant is very exclusive and the Hotel room is quiet and very comfortable. The parking is direc in front of the Hotel.
The stuff is very nice and what I saw all the people was happy with the breakfast. Different kinds of eggs etc. all what you need for an excellent start in the morning & day. When I am in this are, i will go by sure the next day in this Hotel.
Only in the City Schwoerstadt there is nothing to do, so you have to drive 5/10 Km to the next City Bad Saeckingen, but this isnt a problem if you are there by car. Because there is the direct high way to this City.
If you happen to be here...

We were travelling without any reservations or agenda, and happened across this place as the day was ending, and just pulled in. The location is not scenic, with a large warehouse type place next door, but the food and hosts made up for that. English was a small problem, but a lot of sign language got us through to a very comfortable room, and the best meal we had in Germany! Chef Manfred is truly talented and i still wonder what he is doing there. He should have a Michelin star ! As i couldn't read the menu, i just asked for his choice, and a real feast arrived, all fresh and superbly cooked. It really made being lost in that area a complete pleasure.
Ideal stopover at a price
Reviewed 23 June, 2009
The Hotel Schlossmatt is an ideal stopover if you are looking for somewhere near the Basel to Zurich motorway ( it is situated approx 6 miles off the motorway ).The picture of the hotel shown on most websites is a little flattering as it appears to be isolated in the countryside. In fact it is on the edge of a small town and is amongst other buildings.
The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are reasonably basic but are clean and are priced at the top end.The food is excellent but again not cheap.
