I've given this b & b a three because it's clean and the management was friendly but that was all the good bits. Where do I start with the room..... The bathroom door doesn't close so no good if you like your privacy, the blind didn't work, the cord was off, it was too small for the window and had to be wound up and down by hand. There were no curtains which wouldn't gave mattered of the blind had fit properly. The bathroom window didn't open because the party that did was party of the room next door. Sharon this wouldn't have mattered if the fan was working but, you guessed it, it wasn't. The shower was dicing with death, there was a notice warning about very hot water but I thought once the temperature was set it would be OK but no. It fluctuated and became very hot. An accident waiting to happen. The day we arrived it was a one woman band operation as she had sacked her staff. Breakfast was good and cooked to order. And plenty of it. Once the management gets the rooms sorted it has the making of a nice B&B.

Hearing new people at the Horseshoes thought let's go and give it a look. First impressions greeted by bar staff very attentive and polite. General decor very dated, furniture, wall decor, and ornaments etc. Food was nice and reasonably priced,I hope the new people make a go of it,im sure they deserve it. If they can, aquire different furniture, perhaps some soft seating area as well... I'll be back....
Lunch in danger of turning into dinner!

Booked table for lunch 4 x people at 1230 Arriving at 1230 we ordered drinks and asked for menus only to be told that the chef had “popped out”.! Strange .....Not knowing how long “popped” would be we placed our orders ........ 1.5 hours (I know! We should have left!) I went to enquire after our meals to be told there would be a delay as the chef had to batter the fish! 2.5 hours later now 3pm we are served our food. The mayonnaise I requested never materialised .... when I went to pay the bill I of course complained to be given the following absurd excuses..... 1/. Chef was busy (2 other tables 1x2 people 1 x 3..... really!) 2/. Chef had to DEFROST the batter! 3/. Chef had to DEFROST the fish!!! They deducted £5 only from the bill!!! To add insult to injury the battered fish was shop bought ..... !!!!! Unbelievable and never ever again.
Vast improvement to last visit

We used to visit quite a while ago, the Horseshoes was a tired, cluttered old fashioned pub. We visited today for a quick lunch, what a difference, the clutter had been removed and it was bright and airy, but still maintaining the old village pub feel. We were told that the old landlord had gone and the new one had taken over November. We spoke to the landlord who is very friendly and pleasant. We had drinks and ordered some lunch from a quite small, but adequate menu. The food arrived quite quickly and looked very nice. It tasted very nice with adequate portions and is very reasonably priced. Overall a very pleasurable lunch. The landlord told us he had lots of plans for the future, definitely a work in progress. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.
