Operates in bad faith

Opinión escrita el 24 de decembre de 2022

I booked a three day stay at the retreat for a fast but was unable to fly out due to the bomb cyclone storm of December 2022. The retreat had collected the price of my entire stay in advance and upon cancellation, due to catastrophic weather outside of my control, refused to give me a refund. I cannot comprehend how a business can stay a float while operating in such bad faith. They took $!,444 for nothing. A complete lack of ethics and good faith .

Seeking health

Opinión escrita el 26 de septiembre de 2021

This is a beautiful environment with great views of red rock mountains. Came here with two sisters all seeking to resolve different issues. Mine was my high blood pressure as I’d like to get off my meds. Was convinced to go on a 9 day water fast after doc suggested we watch a video about water fasting. I just completed the water fast yesterday, on juice and water today and start eating tomorrow. Never thought I could do it but managed to without feeling hungry, tired (even though I was sleeping less), no change in mood, no headaches, and still had energy to exercise. However, each person’s experience is different. I love doc’s daughters who help out with the operation and entertain us by playing their violins. Everyone here is nice, helpful and accommodating. The best part is that I went off my BP meds 11 days ago and my BP is actually lower than it was before it became a problem. Praying it stays that way. I just need to stay on the program. I am glad I came and Ive already recommended to others.

Total support for reaching my goals & healing. Loved it!

Opinión escrita el 26 de septiembre de 2021

It's a very special place! I was ready to do a 30 day water fast & 15 day refeed process. I wanted supervision, education, support & aftercare to reach my goals. What I got was so much more!! Best gift I've ever given myself. The teams working at the retreat -- medical, cooking, juicing, cleaning, many layers of retreat support staff, etc. are excellent. They take incredible care of you every step of the way. You are seen daily by a healthcare provider (generally an ND). Initial labs are drawn, then follow-ups, if warranted. There are many therapies guests engaged in as directed or desired: IV therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, craniosacral therapy, gerson diet, hot/fever therapy, ozone treatments, infrared sauna, medicine wheel & labyrinth, exercise bike, etc. The food & juices were excellent. They creatively put excellent quality, whole, organic foods together in ways they taught me to maintain at home. I experienced healing on multiple & surprising levels - head to toe physical, pain / inflammation, emotional, spiritual, past, etc. with great clarity into my life vision & path ahead. I feel confident about the tools I have to live my best life. I had a particularly strong physical mechanism of healing that occurred during 11 days, in particular. The doctor was extremely supportive in getting me through that & throughout my 45-day stay. The body works, it knows how to heal itself & be healthy. It was incredible to be around so many other retreat guests (all there for various reasons) who were experiencing their own journeys. Guests were a collection of wonderful people of all ages from around the world with all different reasons for coming - chronic disease management; eradicating high blood pressure, high cholesterol diabetes; auto-immune disorder treatment; cancer care; brain injuries; neurological disorders, etc, etc. One after another, these people had commonalities: down-to-earth, interested, loving, supportive, etc. There are plenty of people who healed better with a more socially private experience & each of those people thrived at the retreat as well. Many little things, consistent kindnesses shown by every level of resort staff from the doctor to the cooks & juicers was impressive. They do their work with care & intention. I've never seen a staff more accomodating to guest needs. Each meal or juice is prepped for each guest accomodating their own allergies or preferences. The one consistent comment I heard from guests was, "I really wish I had booked for longer." I heard it from 75% of the people who came & went during my stay at the retreat. Many guests pushed their stays out longer if the retreat could accomodate them. The retreat is a homey, comforting, beautiful resort in one of the most gorgeous settings you'll likely come across in your life. My room was great - very comfortable, had a table & chair so I could work & write; a nice bathroom. I was able to see & do so many things in Sedona. Given my high hopes for what I wanted my water fasting/refeed experience to be like, I'd give it a 10/10. The retreat & staff exceeded my expectations. It was a life-changing, physical & spirt-opening reboot. My body & spirit revitalized far more than what I imagined was possible - from stunning weight loss to getting rid of pain / inflammation (now zero) & deep layers of emotional healing as well as great self-care skills and heightened self-confidence. I feel at peak health now and very educated, motivated & committed to continuing along the path of excellent health. For me, the cooking classes & refeeding process were critical to learn practical, replicatable self-care skills that I can do daily for the rest of my life. I couldn't have asked for more. It was a pleasure to experience all of it!

We ordered through PRICELINE - a room w/ a jacuzzi tub, king-size bed. We walked into a room with a bathroom so small that 2 people could not stand in it at the same time. The small old shower was behind the door and you literally had to almost be sitting on the toilet to open the door. No one was there when we checked in (they sent us an email saying that someone would only be there to check us in between 3 pm-5 pm. We showed up at 3:45- no one was there- office was dark, no notes. I tried to call- no answer. As I was about to leave- there was a small note to the right of the door to leave that said that we could pick up our keys on the side table by the door. Got our keys with a letter that said check-out time was now an hour earlier than what Priceline had advertised. Got to our room- and my stomach immediately got a knot. I could not find the bathroom- thought we did not get one; then saw it behind the entrance to the room. Started to unpack when we saw the first hairs on the pillows on the bed. Then more hairs. Several long black hairs (I'm blonde and mu husband shaved his head). We pulled back the covers to reveal even more- There had to be over 60 long black hairs. I was sickened. At the bottom of the bed were red stains- I was so grossed out I just wanted to get out of there. I called the phone number for the front desk- No Answer- pushed button to leave a message- hung up on me. Called again- the same thing. Called 2nd number for emergencies - No Answer- Left a Message. We went to dinner- a few hours later- getting closer to dark- still no answer. Called again. Nothing. We ventured downstairs to look for clean sheets. We found some cabinets with sheets in them. Not the right size sheets and not blankets, but we grabbed what looked to be cleaned to make a makeshift bed. We sanitized the room and bed with Clorox wipes- put the small sheets to cover the bottom and each had a small sheet to cover up with. That's how we spent out 2 nights. When we came down, there was no management there. The only people we saw who "worked there" were 2 young girls probably around 11-13 years old. They brought us breakfast the first morning. I don't think they spoke much English and we did not want to complain to children. So Disappointed in PRICELINE for advertising and promoting a trashy place like this. We called Priceline to share, and they said they reached out to The Lodge people (after several, several attempts) and they told them that we never called or told them anything was wrong. And get this- the trash room we were baited into- when I looked at the Lodge website was $30/night cheaper than what Priceline charged us.

Not worth the high price

Setting is beautiful. However our room was quite dated - the bathroom floor was 2 different style tiles (and not in a artsy way) the grout was dirty or missing. Stained glass window in bath area was old and worn - the caulking missing and frame completely worn/water stained. There may have been an attempt to update the living area but with the lowest quality of materials - very cheap vinyl flooring and ceramic tile around fireplace. we only had 3 hours of wifi during our 2 night stay. Breakfast was OK. This appears to be more of a retreat for people overcoming some life's problems - not really a lodging or hotel. Did not see much of any staff to provide visitor assistance. Tried to provide feedback via Lodge's link for feedback but it is not functional. I feel it was quite overpriced for the accommodations and service. Again the setting is beautiful and could really be a stunning place with a little more updating and servicing of lodge guests
