Lovely hotel with great staff

Fabulous hotel with just the most wonderful staff who cannot do enough for you. We came as part of the National holidays coach trip turkey and tinsel. Food was lovely and the portions are massive, but what really makes this place so special are the wonderful staff who work here. They are an absolute credit to this hotel. Totally recommend and I hope to come and stay again the next time I’m in shanklin.

A very pleasant two day stay

Just returned from a two night stay at Medehamstede Hotel . We were offered this hotel after beingl advised us that our booking at their sister hotel in Sandown could not be honoured as it was closed . Our original booking was for bed and breakfast so I asked if they would throw in dinner as a form of compensation as our original Hotel had a spa which was the reason we booked . They kindly agreed to our request . On arrival at the hotel , which was three hours before check in time the manager on reception said that our room was ready and he offered to carry my case up the flight of stairs to my room . He also advised us that it was a Turkey and Tinsel weekend , which we were unaware of . He also said that we were welcome to have tea and mince pies at 4.30pm before a full Christmas dinner . Our single rooms were more than adequate. Clean, fresh towels, tea and coffee ,perfect WiFi reception, good shower and a very comfortable bed . The breakfast and dinners were of a very good standard with a choice of menu , served promptly by very pleasant and friendly staff. Overall ..... I would agree that the hotel looks a little tired but I have to say I could not find fault with anything. I would certainly visit this hotel again .

Hotels decor is a little tired, but some staff brighten the hotel. The food apart from the bookers battered fish is nice.was shocked to see the cook at breakfast eating from the grill.(when you have windows people can see) plus in the evening the head waitress could be seen eating in the kitchen complete NoNo. Please next time I come DONT GIVE ME ROOM 25

We stayed at this hotel and found it first rate. Our family room was well decorated, bright, airy and really spacious. Plenty of plug sockets incorporating USB ports (6 of each in room), so everyone could charge mobiles etc. The en suite bathroom was modern and looked like it had been recently refurbished. Great shower. Again the en suite was spacious. The dining room was good and breakfast was efficiently served by friendly, helpful staff. They had parking at the hotel to. It was only a short walk down to sea front and Shanklin Chine. We would definitely use this hotel again if we visit Isle of Wight again.

Happy trip down memory lane

I decided on the spur of the moment to take my bike across to the IoW for a weekend of cycling, and was fortunate to have glorious weather. I needed somewhere to stay in Shanklin so picked this almost at random. It's a real old-fashioned hotel, exactly like the ones I used to stay in with my family in the 60s. It has a very 60s feel, but everything is clean and comfortable. There's a nice outdoor garden, from which I could hear a singer going through a 3-hour show of 60s music in the evening. In the morning I had a good breakfast, on an assigned table, served briskly and efficiently. It seemed that everyone else was with a coach party. Nice welcome. It's handy for the beach and the town.
