Nice Hotel For Those With No Expectations
This is a typical holiday style hotel found around China where the pictures will look better than the real thing. If you’ve never stayed in a five star hotel before and come from the countryside I think it’s definitely a nice place. If you’ve experienced service, attention to detail, etc, it’s just a typical disappointment but right on par with most Chinese managed hotels. The golf course is beautiful and the views are amazing, really nice scenery but beyond 10 mins of enjoying it you will be reminded you’re at a poorly managed place. Breakfast was offensively disgusting. Instant mix coffee, pink bacon, you know the drill.. again very typical trough served in locally managed hotels. I suggest bringing your own fruit or granola bar and avoiding the breakfast. Understand that this hotels main clientele is not international travellers - it’s families with children and girls that want to take photos. It’s an “all sizzle no steak” property and you should avoid unless you were invited to a wedding like we were. The property is beautiful which is why I was generous and gave two stars. Enjoyed the driving range too! Really hope I never have the misfortune of coming here again.
4th stay, tough day here today
Bad start -NO hot water this morning, and no explanation provided when I enquired. Cold shower was a lousy way to start the day no doubt. I speak a small bit of chinese and tried to explain to the management that the construction going on in the room above me, along with no hot water was making for a bad day. A few minutes later some of the staff came to my room and wanted to use my phone. Probably a bit of a language barrier, but even when working my way up to the manager (english speaking, just a line of apologies and no reassurance I'd have hot water, or a quiet room for the balance of my stay. Perhaps there are better options in the area. Service levels have been declining in the 6 months that I had been coming here.
Beautiful Hotel for Business Travelers
The property, food and amenities are excellent! Service wonderful. It is difficult to find English-speaking staff, but where it matter (e.g. check out) I had no issues. If you are looking for a quiet location as well this is the place. I was able to work without any issues of noise. Highly recommended!
No hole in one
While the staff are tripping over themselves to provide service, its hard to deal with anyone speaking English. Its a lovely place, large comfy rooms, and a great range of food. Fronting a beautiful golf course (out of bounds) each room has a large outdoor bath on the private balcony. Expanded greatly since my last visit, the buffet restaurant has a great range of food. The problem is, that its focused on golfing, and so its a significant taxi ride to anywhere. Not enough facilities to keep one occupied. seems either the gym or maybe just the signage has disappeared. I did suffer food poisoning, but that could happen anywhere; and, and the staff were helpful, even without a treatment solution. My wife, a TCM practitioner, had to go shopping for the solution.
Unbelievable lunch experience!
I was invited to the Castle Hotel last January for a business lunch and was amazed at the quality and beauty of the main dining room restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing. We had the chance to taste Century eggs and the variety plus freshness amazed me. I did not have a chance to stay overnight but the hotel was spotless and the service we had was 5 stars. Really loved it and will definitely try to stay overnight on my next visit to Shenzhen.
