Excellent vacation place for family in Riviera Maya, Mexico
Beautiful Riviera Maya location to visit. Hotel staff was very friendly. All inclusive deal was worth taking for a family. White sand beach is welcoming except the fact that there were sea-weeds coming ashore occasionally which they are trying to cleanup as much as they can. Six nights stay was very relaxing. Hotel have night time entertainments in the property with performers coming from Mexico city. Nearby places to visit were Playa del Carmen 5th avenue shopping and Chichen Itza which is about 2 to 3 hours drive. RIU hotel chain is impressive for their customer service. Best time to visit - December through May.
Somewhat Disappointing this time around.
This was our third visit to this property and the first since the remodel. Which seems to have taken some of the Charm out of the Hotel. This was a Family Vacation (Wife, 3 kids, and associated partners) of seven. Since our past visits, the cleanliness of the hotel seems to have suffered a little, especially around the Buffet and restaurants and the staff did not seem as engaged as before. The biggest let down though was the other guests. They were primarily Brits and many of them were drunk, slovenly, and just plain rude and obnoxious. The way they treated the staff was abhorrent. We witnessed more than one relieving themselves in the bushes, on the beach, in trash cans, etc, As a guy who holds dual Citizenship US/UK, it was truly embarrassing to me. I think I will cross this one of my lists for future stays.
Excellent service
As an elderly couple we are obviously concerned about covis safety.This restaurant has all areas clearly protected.All the staff wear protetive face covering and table service only.All the staff are very attentive and aware of when you would like refills. Aniversary
Loved this Hotel. Lotes of good entertainement, drinks of good quality and friendly staff. Rooms were of comfortable size, ice machine dotted about (when they were working) to fill your ice bucket up in the room, optics in the room. Good all round food and the use of the sistering Riu hotels apart from the Palace.
Had a fun time but wouldn’t stay here again
Stayed for 3 nights in October, frequent visitor to the RIU chain, but this wasn’t my favourite. Service was good, rooms were nice but quite small and a see through shower door. The a la carte restaurants were a big disappointment, in the Asian, it’s actually self service and the quality of the food in the steak house was very bad, we actually walked out. Hotel grounds are lovely with large pools and plenty of sun beds and lots of wildlife.
