Unsafe Conditions, Poorly Maintained, Dirty Hotel
Reviewed 24 september, 2022
We recently stayed at the Sonesta ES Suites at San Francisco Airport Oyster Point Waterfront. DO NOT STAY HERE. It is unsafe. Due to increased gang activity, poorly maintained hotel (dirty, suites not fully stocked with towels, dishes, or silverware due to customers stealing items) and increased gang activity with graffiti all over the walk ways, bridge support across the inlet of the bay located right outside the hotel, and increased dog dirt everywhere without customers, pedestrians, and others not picking up their dog mess because garbage receptacles are full makes for a very unsafe condition to stay at this hotel. The hotel would not call police after we reported gunfire outside our window and gangs having a party on the lawn behind the pool They said they called their security who never showed up due to fear of their lives I would suspect. We finally called 911 and police showed up to disburse crowd. But not before there was more gun fire. Not sure if anyone was shot but we left the hotel that night even though we had one more night of stay with Sonesta ES suites San Francisco Airpot Oyster Point. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. It is UNSAFE due to poor management and increased gang activity in this area. South Sanfrancisco City and the Corporations that have big pharma building surrounding this area should put in for increased security and negotiate to increase police or national guard presence.
One of the Top three poorest places to stay

OVERCHARGED & NOT REIMBURSED

I pre-booked a stay at this hotel for 17 days, but changed my reservation mid-way to only 10 days by notifying a rep at the front desk. Before leaving the hotel, I checked out the front desk but was not offered a check-out manifest and, unfortunately, nor did I demand one. Days later, I discovered that the hotel charged for me for the entire 17 days. Altogether, I was overcharged approx. $700. Since discovering the charges, I have returned to the hotel twice and made several calls to speak with a manger to no avail. There is no "customer service," and it is a pity that I will need to take legal action to get my refund.

Very clean and great price! Front desk very courteous. Highly recommend! Arrived early and were allowed to check in early. Awesome view and close to highway access to get downtown. Only 5 minutes from airport.
Smelly, dirty, and in desperate need of an upgrade

We stayed at the Sonesta during our trip to San Francisco and have frequented the hotel when it was a Marriott Residence Inn (the ownership changed recently). I am pained to write this, but the hotel has really gone downhill since then. There were literally piles of trash throughout the hallways, contributing to an odor that persisted throughout the hotel. I even tried to open a window in my room and it nearly fell off the frame because they are all storm windows. The room wasn't cleaned very well with stains on the carpet, curtains. The mattress was also sagging along with the couch cushions (also dirty). We also were missing several kitchen items - glasses, bowls - with one glass having a chip in it that almost cut my mouth. We never did get the bowls. They also don't really serve you a breakfast (Tues - Thurs only) which is ridiculous. We are past COVID restrictions and it makes no sense why a grab-n-go breakfast wasn't at least available. The WIFI worked well and the staff was friendly. I am sad to say though that due to the overall room condition and hotel cleanliness we won't be back.
