Not up to Comfort Suites standards.

Very tired and worn. Many details missing and lacking. Dirty entrance and doorways throughout. Filthy stairwell when opted not to use the elevator with unmasked guests. The room lacked wipes, remote cover, other things normal today. No masks by staff. Sorry to see Comfort Suites starting to fail.
Annual visit to area

Our stay at the Comfort Suites Springfield was disappointing. I have stayed in Springfield annually but this was my first stay at Comfort Inn. Several factors influenced my rating of the hotel. The desk staff was pleasant and helpful and the hotel entry was clean with a sign that masks were required. However, the elevators were not marked with a maximum number of people and I noticed that several guests were not wearing masks. I appreciate this is a difficult issue for hotel staff to address. The room was in need of updating. The bathroom mirror was repaired with black tape and there was rust in the corner of the bathroom door, which did not close properly. The samples in the bathroom included shampoo, conditioner, and hand lotion, but the hand lotion was empty. The refrigerator worked very well. The hotel had exits at the end of hallways allowing easy access to side parking areas. Those exits had signs on the exterior indicating the room card could be swiped to gain access. The side exit we used did not work and instead was propped open repeatedly, posing a safety concern.
A Different Experience

I have stayed at this location Several times over the years, this experience wasn't a bad one but it wasn't great. The bed was comfortable and on the surface the room looks clean but, not to the degree of the C-19 protocols. I also didn't see any signage to indicate they are following any extra cleaning precautions. The carpets could use a shampoo as well. This is no longer my first choice when coming to the area.
Good customer service and overall average stay
Reviewed 9 September, 2020
Just returned from a stay of a few nights with husband. Front desk and staff were all very friendly and helpful. Overall it was an average stay.
We had room 217, King size bed with separate Living Room area and nice large wet bar area with microwave and small fridge. Had ample space and overall was cleaned pretty well with a few minor exceptions and one major item we found. Found two tags on the floor (one under the living room garbage can and also one next to the bed (not under it, next to it), which I don't see how they were missed if the room was vacuumed completely. The carpet by the couch area was in need of cleaning, and there was something spilled on the wall next to the bed closest to the wall.
This room is the first room on the 2nd floor right next to the wide open area overlooking the lobby. Did get nose from lobby at different times from loud people talking and such, but didn't hear any highway noise. Also had to deal with rude guests who felt the could blare their music in their cars in the parking lot (our windows were literally rattling one morning for like 15 minutes), and also others who had their phones blaring music while in the lobby or hallway. Do people have not common respect for others, not everyone wants to hear your music.
We have been traveling locally during Covid for weekend get always and I bring all my own lysol wipes and cleaning supplies and go over EVERYTHING in the room myself to make sure it is cleaned. I did feel like this room was generally cleaned well. However, they do have a major maintenance issue I mentioned to the front desk when checking out (it didn't really impact our stay but was a bit of shock to see!). The wet bar sink all around the left handle seemed a bit crusty and corroded when I was wiping down everything. I mentioned it to my husband (who is a maintenance person by trade) and of course he had to start examining it, when he opened up the cupboard to look underneath, the entire cabinet inside was water damaged and black (it had obviously been leaking a long time!) I told him to close it immediately because it almost looked like black mold to me!
Don't know if they will do anything as the whole entire cabinet and counter needs to be taken out to replace it, and maybe they already knew - but this does need serious attention.
Breakfast, as others have mentioned, during Covid wasn't much to speak of. Coffee was available, and they had grab and go breakfast - which was a breakfast bar, an apple, and a bottle of water. Honestly, would be better off just not offering anything
Which brings me to my next, and also major complaint. My husband did go down and get coffee each morning for himself. I noticed a LOT of guests coming and going with NO masks on (even though there was a sign on the door). I would estimate at least 75% of guests I saw were not wearing them, and the front desk never said a word, not even a polite request to wear one. Someone was checking in ahead of us, and walked right up to the counter, checked in, and went to elevator and they never even gave them a gentle reminder. Same thing the few other times we were in the lobby, front desk never said a word. The most disturbing thing is I saw 3 different people getting coffee over two days with no masks on, and everyone is all touching the same coffee supplies and carafes. I made my husband completely wash his hands and told him not to touch anything after he got a cup. Other hotels have it set up so that they serve guests when they want coffee so every Tom, Dick and Harry aren't touching the stuff. All these people not wearing masks I can't even imagine if they are bothering to wash hands before touching everything.
I am on the fence about "recommending" a stay here. Like I said, overall room was clean other than the majorly missed items, and front desk was very friendly but wasn't enforcing safety protocol.
