Central customer service shocking..NOT Stockport staff
Reviewed 2 december, 2021
Unfortunately I have no option but to review on here due to the disgraceful attitude of central customer services. My room smelled strongly of smoke. I reported this after initially thinking it was simply from the cleaner smoking near the outside door on arrival. I realised this was not the case during the night as the headboard and room was extremely strong smelling of smoke. My husband has dementia and found it very upsetting as he does not like the smell of smoke. He was convinced someone was smoking in the room. We both have asthma and it affected us our entire stay because of the smoke smell. I noticed the next day that the smoke alarm had a bag taped over it. Clearly left from the person before who had done this to avoid it detecting smoke in the room. A quick google search showed this is what people do. I reported this and was told it would be removed when we went out, but it wasn't. I asked for a different room but as we had to have an accessible room and they only have 2...they didn't have an alternative room to put us in. Premier Inn have a good nights sleep guarantee. Reception suggested i contact customer service on my return home. This i did! I have found this to be a joke! They have refused to assist under their good nights sleep guarantee and have also refused to call to discuss. They have given no reasons. They have told me, after 2 emails they will not communicate further. Now..to be clear...i stated my problems, I asked they call me as you cannot call them at the moment. You have to use an online form due to them not taking calls regarding feedback. I asked they call me to explain why they were not actually addressing any of my issues specifically, simply a generic response. I am extremely unhappy. The staff at Stockport were lovely. When they received notification that i had been in touch with customer services they called me and apologised again that they couldn't change our room and assured me that customer services would organise our refund under the good nights sleep guarantee! I have used Premier Inn for years, believing them to offer a decent room and good service. I have never had cause to complain and did not even know about the sleep guarantee as I had never had an issue before. It seems that it is a total farce and completely inaccurate to say this is there when it clearly isn't. Their terms within that guarantee make no suggestion of refusal....unless you are seen to abuse the system...which for a customer who has never complained seemed highly unlikely. I really am very disappointed and customer services have let Stockport Central down and unfortunately this has resulted in this review I would not recommend Premier Inn again as clearly their promises are absolutely worthless. I have received a £30.00 refund...'as a gesture of goodwill' but my stay cost £150.00! Just to add, the room was ok. It was clean enough, though for an accessible room it had a very difficult entrance into the building with very heavy doors, almost impossible to access alone in a wheelchair and up a fairly steep slope, not suitable for wheelchair accessibility..that was covered in wet leaves making it pretty treacherous. Bar closed at 11.30 sharp...in a hotel....for residents too. Again disappointing when this whole stay was for a small reunion of Forces veterans, all over the age of 60. Food was poor and tables with continental buffet were not kept clean nor replenished when things were empty. Continuously asking for things, clean cups, milk, orange juice, no saucers then no.plates, dirty cups, cutlery etc and no bread. Just wasn't keeping an eye on things to make sure people weren't having to hang around waiting. Breakfast literally appeared thrown on a plate and then was wrong after specifically asking what was required. It was lukewarm and by the time bread was made available for toast was totally cold. I received a £19.00 refund for the food. We stayed 2 nights. Poor show Premier Inn, very poor show. Be thankful you have good front facing staff because you have extremely poor customer services!

Very cozy room... easy check in. Had drinks/food in the Hungry Horse. Was served and looked after by a barmaid called "Kenya" she was very helpful and excellent at her job. Had the 12oz steak on the monday club... bargain at 8 quid. Will stay again

A very warm welcome from Bev (or Beth) when we arrived after midnight, she couldn't have been more lovely and made sure we had everything we needed including extra pillows. The staff throughout our two night stay were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good.
Another amazing stay at this wonderful hotel.

Room was good for a short stay but would have liked some drawer space for my smaller stuff. staff were excellent, bar & restaurant facilities also very satisfactory. Guests seem to respond well to the requests for tiptoe and we had peaceful and comfortable nights. Like the upgrades done since my previous visit.
