Cozy, Historic Inn in Stowe Center

Reviewed 3 january, 2022

We returned to the Green Mountain Inn for another special stay in Stowe at this conveniently located, cozy inn. There are many things to enjoy here--the staff is courteous, the afternoon tea features delicious cookies, and the restaurant offers a wide variety of tasty entrees. The price is reasonable for this high tourist area. Unfortunately, one of the inn highlights, the outdoor pool, was nonfunctioning during our entire four night stay. Although I like the quirkiness and historic decor of this inn, after four nights I started to find our classic room size a bit cramped. Additionally, there is really no place to eat lunch locally unless one has a car. (The car was being used to transport the skier in the family to the mountain!) Yes, we would definitely return, but perhaps for a shorter stay, or in a larger room. Overall this inn is always a solid choice in central Stowe, and guarantees a pleasant and relaxing experience.

Beautiful cozy inn with a lovely, accomodating staff!

Beautiful, cozy place, especially during Christmas when the whole place looks like a picture postcard. The staff goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. We had a 3 day Christmas package which included some nice extras, including a very lovely breakfast daily and Christmas dinner. We've been to places that included meals but gave you a restricted menu to choose from. Not here, we could order anything (alcohol drinks we paid for and expected to). The breakfast room is lovely with pretty decor and a fireplace. Our room had a fireplace which was very nice to have, a comfy king size 4 poster bed and a roomy bathroom. There was a knock on the door and two staff members handed us a hand wrapped Christmas gift with a card, which turned out to be a beautiful, hard cover photo book about Stowe. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend it.

I love this inn and everything about it. The folks who work here are fantastic; the food is great; and our room was impeccable. We stayed in a great little and well-priced room that had every amenity and looked like it had been finished a week before. Breakfasts were awesome and the Whip—the Inn’s public restaurant—was as busy as the food was delicious. Treat yourself!

Wonderful Inn, the Best in Stowe!

We stayed two nights at the Green Mountain Inn, and had a most wonderful experience. The Inn is cozy, clean, and comfortable, and is located on Stowe's Main Street, which makes it easy to shop Stowe's boutiques. There is plenty of parking, and the rooms are fashionably updated with Keurig coffee makers for wake-up coffee. Cozy sitting areas throughout the Inn make it easy for travelling friends to gather and discuss their plans for the day. The Whip Bar and Grill is located in the Inn, which is a great place for dinner, and a delicious breakfast is served in the breakfast room by the lobby. To top it off, the employees at the front desk are exceptionally helpful and welcoming, which made us feel at home. A great place to stay--Highly recommended!

Wonderful cozy Inn!

There s not one negative thing I can write about this Inn. It is in town, with easy parking and you can walk everyplace. We got a room with a gas fireplace that was huge and just as cozy and lovely as can be. There was a big jacuzzi tub (we didn't use) and a phone booth sized shower, which could be a bit tiny for some folks. The room was quiet and I just wish we lived closer to Vermont, so we could visit more often. The customer service was outstanding. We had an early afternoon funeral in a nearby town and wanted to get in before the normal check in to freshen up, and they were very gracious, letting us in. The breakfast restaurant is super nice and the Whip, the restaurant for dinner was very very wonderful. The Inn requires all guests to be fully vaccinated at this time. One other note, after we left, I looked at the brochure and the place is a lot larger than I had realized. There are all sorts of accommodations, but we stayed in the main Inn. Our room was down a very very long and convoluted hall. If you have mobility issues, let them know when you book so you don't have to walk so far. I also discovered there is a year round heated pool and all sorts of fun stuff.. since we were not really on a vacation, we didn't have time to explore all that.
