Great hotel! Clean and awesome breakfast options!
Reviewed 28 december, 2022
We arrived on 12/25 and were welcomed by a lovely lady who provided us with recommendations for places to eat since we had a long flight due to the winter storm. The hotel is clean, I mean it, clean. The front doors are also secured. Bed was comfortable and linens smelled clean and with a lavender aroma. The breakfast area is spacious and clean. There is also plenty of food options for everybody. We looked forward everyday for breakfast. The Hispanic lady at the food area was also so sweet and made sure we had everything we need. We definitely stay again in this hotel when visiting WA NParks. Don’t let the area outside (roads) prevent you from booking this hotel.

I had an issue with my card and Ashley was very professional and calm while we sorted it all out. Then I had an electrical issue in my room and she got maintenance on it and fixed in the time it took me to wait for my to-go dinner. I mentioned vehicle safety overnight and she showed me where I should park and reassured me all would be safe. The room was lovely; very clean and it really was soundproof (I was on the freeway side of the building). The backlit mirror in the bathroom was a nice touch and the bath fan actually worked. There were pumps for soap, shampoo and conditioner, eliminating waste. There was even a Keurig! I'll definitely stay here again.

Consider carefully before booking a room …

Let me start by saying I’m going into this review a little miffed. In my 40+ years of traveling, I’ve never had a hotel or motel tell me I can’t use my reward points. But in this case, I was told the points can only be used for “Standard Rooms” and all their standard rooms were booked. So I went ahead and paid for a … non-standard room???. Well, I got to my room and guess what - it was just a standard motel room. There was absolutely nothing special or deficient with this room. With that said and out of the way, here are the positive aspects of my stay. The facility is somewhat new and it was clean (the bleach smell hung heavy in the air). The staff was courteous, but not necessarily friendly. The bed was medium firm and there were plenty of pillows. The free breakfast was pretty good. Within 150 feet from the hotel there were two restaurant … the food at the Pho restaurant was really good. Now for some downsides … (1) for all you light sleepers, this was a noisy motel. Even though we were in a room on the backside of the motel facing an empty lot, we could still hear the nearby traffic noise. Additionally, we could hear guests talking in their room and hallway. We could also hear the footsteps from the floor above us. (2) this motel is located in a not so nice location of Tacoma … they even lock the front lobby doors after certain hours, so you need to use your room key card to enter the lobby and to operate the elevator. Connected to the noise issue … I did hear a couple of gun shots at about 3 AM.

A good place to stay

After a long flight and then drive to Tacoma we got to our hotel we had reserved on Expedia. It was the absolute worst hotel I have ever seen in my life. We instantly left and I pulled up maps and hotels nearby. We found holiday inn express. The girl working was very polite and helpful and answered all our questions honestly. She made us feel safe even tho the area is rough looking. She was beyond amazing. The next morning was a full hot breakfast, which is hard to find now a days. Unfortunately we had to find another hotel as they were booked for the weekend. We ended up across the street at Holiday Inn. I made comment to my husband the next morning, wondering if they would notice if we went back over for breakfast. Lol!! I want to say the girl at the front desk the night we checked in was Kaylee. So shout out to her for helping people from Iowa who just wanted a nice bed to sleep in and relax for the night after all we had been thru that day. Absolutely no complaints here and we had two rooms for 4 people. Actually got the queen suites as that’s all that was left.

Clean and Great Staff, but Sketchy Area of Town

The staff was excellent at my stay and the rooms were quite clean. Beyond that, I would not recommend this hotel. It was not in a safe area. I would not have known from the booking since I paid just as much for this hotel as I would have to stay downtown Seattle. However, my entrance off the expressway had homeless people at the corners. Then I passed multiple rundown apartment complexes and businesses. When I arrived at the hotel, the parking lot was fenced in with signs everywhere to remove any valuables from site and that there were security cameras everywhere.
