Lovely Hotel in Downtown Tampa

We stayed for just one night. We wanted a hotel close enough to Amalie Arena since we were there to attend a concert. The location was very nice - right in the downtown area. We enjoyed the room very much. It was spacious and clean. The young man, Elijiah, who checked us in went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and that all our needs were met. He should be comended for his work ethic and lovely personality!
Great family hotel in downtown Tampa.

We enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott in downtown Tampa. Great location within easy walking distance to The Riverwalk and close to several downtown restaurants and attractions. We stayed in room 205 which is a family suite. The room had a fully equipped kitchen with a full size fridge, living room with a pullout sofa bed and tv’s in the living room and separate bedroom. The shower was adequate but small. This suite is smaller than an Embassy Suites room but still functional. It is an ideal size for two adults and a couple of kids. The only item we missed was having a safe in the room. The free breakfast was very limited. The hotel also has a decent pool and a small basketball court. We really appreciated the early check in which we requested a few days in advance. Elijah at the front desk was excellent and helpful with directions and nearby restaurants etc. We would definitely stay there again.
Consumer beware- Not Marriott standards

The first room that we were assigned was filthy and smelled like smoke, there were ashes on the sofa and clearly someone had smoked in the room because there was air purifier on the room. #715. Went to front desk the guy was so polite and understanding and immediately offered to switch our room. Got to room 214. Immediately upon walking in could sense no one smoked because the air had better quality. That said, that was the best thing about the room. Bathrooms were not cleaned. A foot towel was still on the floor in one bathroom with foot prints in it. The other bathroom had a hand towel that looked to be recently used. Towels had not been replenished in the room. There were 3 wash clothes in the suite. Surfaces were stained and had a layer of dust so I could tell immediately that they had not been wiped down. The second bedroom sheets were stained. And to top things off, human specimen was on the seat of the toilet in one of the bathrooms. This by far was the worst experience I’ve ever had with Marriott. Prior to Covid I traveled often for work, Marriott has always been the preferred choice for stays and when traveling for leisure. It’s hard to believe that hotel is Marriott. Definitely not living up to the standards or commitment to cleanliness. The front desk explained that the hotel only had 2 maids and they were having a hard time keeping up with the work. That is completely unacceptable especially given the fact that the world is living through a pandemic. This has to be addressed immediately, public health is at risk.
A mini resort in the middle of the city!

This hotel and the staff was amazing! We arrived in Tampa at 9am and the hotel was kind enough to help us by letting us check into our room super early. The room was very nice, we had a 1 bedroom suite. It had a full kitchen with frig, microwave, dishwasher, stove top, and all the kitchen utensils. I loved having a living room with the bedroom separated. The kids slept in the living room on the pull out couch (it’s not bad for kids to sleep on but not adults). The bed was super comfy and the room very clean. The pool area was very nice and clean with a fire pit, gas grill, and basketball court. The hotel provides pool towels, everything you need to grill out (except the food of course), and they have a basketball. I loved all the palm trees and plants on the courtyard it made it feel like I was at my own little tropical resort. The hotel is conveniently located right downtown with all kinds of restaurants and stores in walking distance and Clearwater Beach is only about 30-40 mins away. The hotel charges $22 a day for parking but we was able to find parking across the street for only $9 a night. All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel and I will be staying again the next time I’m in Tampa.
