Good Location overlooking beach
All reviews confirm the facilities in the hotel are certainly dated. Its like going back to the 1970s!, but that didn't detract from our opinion. In fact, it was rather pleasant o be greeted by "mature" staff who didn't constantly wish us "To have a nice day"- ugh! Instead the reception and dining room staff were polite and professional. The bedrooms were very dated, but had great views. The menu was OK - just! could be improved and we found better value and quality close by. Breakfasts also,OK
Fantastic reception and so accommodating
We spent 2 nights at the Lido Mediterranee Hotel in early October, with a half board option. A couple of days before my wife contacted them to see if they could support gluten and lactose free. They were so accommodating it was absolutely amazing. Every breakfast and night they would explain to my wife what she could have and bring her special options. This was super considerate. Beyond this the food was excellent. We all enjoyed our evening meals sitting outside at the front of the hotel with the sound of the waves crashing beside us. It was perfect, but there was so much food. The hotel is right on the sea and there‘s free parking on-site. You can easily walk to the Taromina cable-car in just over 10 minutes, so you don‘t need to worry about finding parking in town. There‘s no swimming pool in the hotel, but you can use the swimming pool at their sister hotel. We didn‘t do this, so can‘t comment. The hotel is old fashioned, but this only adds to its charm. It‘s certainly not rundown or in need of renovation. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can‘t recommend it highly enough. Special mentioning the maitre d‘ who provided a wam welcome every evening and made sure everything was in order.
old world new world out of this world
We enjoy finding places that have character and style and this has it all. From formally attired dinner servers along with mongrammed silverware to excellent food served on a terrace watching the ocean (at breakfast and Dinner). tiled floors balconies ocean front and a nice beach area. As the one server said we strive to keep old world service and style. They even have the telephone cabins that are sound proofed.
Old World Values but needs updating
A group of us stayed for a week and found the staff very helpfull (albeit struggling slightly to cope with new technology being introduced in the dining room). The rooms were an excellent size if somewhat dated and the bathrooms would also benefit from being refreshed. The terrace overlooking the beach was a very pleasant place to while away the time and the beach was well equipped with sun beds and parasols. The location means a taxi ride to visit Taormina itself where there is an abundance of restaraunts and eateries to choose from. Fortunatly there are also good restaraunts within reasonably close walking distance although you have to be aware of the traffic.
Charmingly old- fashioned
This hotel is dated but what it lacks in amenities, it makes up for with charming staff, space and comfort. It is on the beach, a taxi ride to town. No pool but the sea is wonderful, at least in September. The rooms, both beds and common rooms, are tired and could do with a refresh, especially the bathroom. We had a balcony but poorly furnished with seats and umbrellas or awning. Still enjoyed our stay
