Weekend get away.... should have stayed home!
Opinión escrita el 13 de Decembre de 2017
Run down!!!! Need a serious renovation! Smells of mold. Carpet was the cheap, place was just not what we expected. This place used to be a nice resort. Too pricey too for what it was. It has seen better days!
Not bad, but not the best when there's so much to offer.

We spent almost a week at this resort over the St Valentine's Day week and weekend, expecting to be wowed. I was sorely disappointed.
Although we made the best of our time the hospitality of the staff kept testing our reserve of patience. The front desk personnel in particular seemed constantly irritable and conceded, regardless of the shift.
Our reservation was 'lost', so even though we confirmed our reservation ahead of our stay, the cottage we reserved ended up turning into just another room in a bank of motel duplicates.
Half the resort wasn't open due to the time of year, so the only amenity or entertainment available was the crater pool.
We did enjoy our soak in the effervescent warm waters of the crater. A wonderful hour well spent.
Other than that there was absolutely nothing to do but go elsewhere to find our own entertainment.
The resort proved to be more of an over-hyped motel with an undeserved reputation for excellence.
I understand that The Homestead Resort does offer more in the way of amenities during the warmer months of the year, so I suppose I'll have to experience this place at another time of year to see if my opinion changes.
At this point, I doubt that I can be forced in liking this establishment.
Very Very dirty, windows did not lock, do not take your shoes off.

This place is the worst place I have ever been in period. The placed should be inspected and shut down. Food all over the carpet and some other stuff, not sure what it was. The widows did not lock, changed to a room that I was able to get the windows locked but the room was so dirty that I had to buy a bath mat because the tub was dirty and I tried to never let my feet touch the floor (shoes, or socks a must) I was traveling with two other people, one of them could not use his shower because the shower handle broke off, it took a couple days before they fixed it. The other person said he had to sleep on his bath towls because the bed was dirty. DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY place.
Good Value for the Price

I've stayed at 3 different Extended Stay Hotels in the last month and this one is pretty much like the rest. This Homestead Suites is easy to get to (right off Interstate 215.) There are a lot of shopping places and restaurants within a mile of the hotel. The hotel could use a renovation, but if paying the weekly rate; it is a good value.

This is possibly the worst Motel I've stayed at EVER. Accommodations I'd expect at a $30 hotel, not one that cost $70 per night. I've been at better traveler hotels in the middle of nowhere than here.
To begin with the Front Desk, there is very little parking. The lot doesn't look like it had been plowed more than once if at all (we had 12" of snow over a week ago and was mostly empty when we arrived).
Check in was average and quick. However after arriving in the room, the heater was un-plugged so it was below 55 in the room. Since the primary reason we came here was to shower as we had frozen pipes, this was not helpful. When we call the desk to find out what was wrong with the heater, the clerk immediately responded that many times they get unplugged. (if that is the case, they should check it when they turn the rooms over). Later we found that the one light attached to the switch was also unplugged.
Non Smoking Room?? Although the room was a non-smoking room, there was an ash-tray in the room? Also it was apparent after being in the room for a while and in the morning that the bedding reeked of stale smoke. I can understand where someone may have the "i'm going to smoke in here anyways, sue me" attitude but at least change the bedding when this happens!
There was other evidence that they just don't care much about maintaining the rooms. The Motel is only about 10 years old, but has wear on the inside for much longer. If they kept the inside as nice as the outside, we would have no issues.
Other signs of not caring or properly turning over the rooms is that all the lids for the pots were there, but not pots or utensils, no coffee maker (although there was a boat there with sugar and creamer and even a coffee maker in the photos on their website), the hair dryer was missing if there ever was one and the towels were about 1/2 the size of a standard towel, and only 2 at that (remember they only do laundry 2x per week). Only one set of very cheap pillows I don't think you can even find at Walmart.
The rooms was not very well cleaned either, although not moldy or visible dirt, there were visible signs that it was not cleaned properly or at all after the last person left.
Upon leaving there was a handwritten sidewise sign on the door that stated no more rooms for the evening, even though the lot at 6am was only 1/3 full and many rooms clearly were vacated with the lights on and no one there in the evening or morning, one room even had cooked food just sitting out on the counter at 6pm and still in the morning, maybe they left it for the mice?
The WiFi worked well and was easy to access, not having to re-login every time your computer or tablet comes back from going to sleep mode (a pleasant change from the annoying practice used at most places)
