More about the hotel
Excellent holiday in difficult times
We stayed 7th till 21st March celebrating our 45 wedding anniversary and hubbys birthday. Wonderful staff, who when they had to close pools bars etc we were confined to our rooms and social distancing, they got ever better, gave us everth8ng we needed, even made a small birthday cake. We were left with only 6 guests, they were really positive, Ryanair let us down, but luckily we managed to get new flights with Jet2 and the hotel were able to print new boarding passes. We will definitely be going back to El Duque next year, hopefully the virus will be eliminated. X
Good holidays
Reading previous reviews we not expect a lot, but overall after we spend 9 days - we had good time. Yes, food can be little salty and pancakes not even warm, but you always can find something nice to eat: good variety of cheese, salad, meats and etc. Staff very friendly, rooms, toilets very clean and tidy. Good location, near shopping centre, yes, its small incline to walk to hotel from the beach - like all Costa Adeje area is hilly, but it's just nice exercise after lots paellas and vine 😄.
Enjoyable stay
After landing in a sand storm we arrived at the hotel, I had booked a pool view room we were not given this so after explaining and showing my paperwork the reception quickly changed it and I was given my pool view. The room was very spacious with separate bedroom and a kitchen which was great even though we were half board. The balcony was the biggest I have ever had unfortunately due to the sand storm it was very dusty it was not the hotel's fault , but it never got cleaned till the second day . The cleaner also missed cleaning the room on another occasion I told reception and it was done immediately. The complex is very nice 2 pools although the pool bar is only open by one of the pools so you have to walk to the other pool to get a drink. There is no inside bar so in the evening you have to sit outside and at this time of year you need jumper and coat , so I only used it for one night , entertainment was ok not great .Food was ok, not great but you could find something although very salty and not hot enough. One night I woke up at 3am and was very sick I brought up all the food I had eaten that night. We ate out after that. The hotel is up a hill so we used to walk down and get a taxi back , not the hotel's fault but if I had known this I would not have booked this hotel. There is a lovely shopping centre on the doorstep with nice shops , a supermarket and a great Irish bar , and restaurants. We had a nice holiday I would not stay again.
Winter Sun
We stayed here for a week from 17th to 24th February. Had a very warm welcome on arrival from Johnny on reception. Although arrived too late for dinner he explained that 2 plates of cold food were in our fridge. This was after telling us we had been upgraded to an apartment from Studio. Food in fridge was plentiful, plus a large bottle of water. The apartment was spotless and huge, as was the balcony. Beds were very comfortable. Cleaning was of a high standard. Food was good and varied. Fresh omlettes at breakfast were a treat. Staff friendly and helpful. We had no mobility issues but I think it would have been a struggle for some as it is a bit hilly. Overall a lovely area and a lovely resort.
Not What we Expected
Disappointed in the Aparthotel. Main disappointments:- Our studio very dark needed lights on during the day also facing dining room entrance not very private. Could only get English ITV channel on television which was a very small screen. The dining room very noisy and more like a canteen and menu very repetitive. Quality of drinks served poor the wine is awful on draft. Cockroaches in our apartment. Positives:- Swimming pool very nice and always plenty of sun beds. Fifteen minutes walk to Fanabe from hotel but uphill coming back. Would rate this hotel a 3 star and not a 4 star as advertised. Would not book this hotel again.
