Basic motel but have a wheelchair accessible room which I needed for my daughter. Made a reservation through Expedia a month prior as I was coordinating for dr appointments. Arrived after 7pm from Los Angeles and was told the accessible room was not available. Despite having a confirmed reservation that was made a month prior, they rented the room to someone else. I did not receive a phone call or any notice until I arrived after dark. No apology and although they did call another hotel to see if they had room available it was $20 more and at that point I did not trust the manager at Crown motel. Very disappointing that they did not honor a confirmed reservation.
Unhappy with refund policy

For the first couple of nights place was nice: quiet, rooms are clean and AC works well, there is even pool access. On the last night around 2 AM a guy staying in room below me got shot -- 6 or 7 times. This caused multiple police and paramedics to show up. When I checked out the next day the blood and other materials from dude who got shot wasn't cleaned up, it was still on the ground in the doorway. I asked the front desk for a refund only for that last night because evertyhtinf that happened made it impossible to sleep. She told me: We didn't shoot the guy, it's not our fault, refusing to refund my last night.
Pleasant staff, safe environment.

This was my first time staying at any motel since COVID struck. I felt safe as check-in was handled through the night window rather than in the lobby. The front desk person was very friendly and, in addition to the room key being in a sealed plastic envelope, he gave me a bottle of water. The room was quite spacious and included a desk and chairs. The bed was comfortable and the surrounding area was pretty quiet at night. A small refrigerator/freezer as well as microwave were present. The TV and internet worked well. Everything was clean. The restroom included a tub/shower but no ventilation aside from a window you can open slightly, though that lets more heat in. It seemed best to keep the door closed to keep the rest of the space cool. The only thing I found a little off-putting was that all lighting seemed to be of the bright white fluorescent kind. Not a major issue but some people with light sensitivity may be challenged. Overall this was a good stay and I'd come back again!

Visitors of Centinela or Calipatria DO NOT STAY HERE

Just a public service announcement for fro all and particularly for visitors of Centinela and Calipatria State Prison. I recently stayed at Crown Motel, which I never do. But since they recently remodeled, I thought I'd give them a chance. BIG MISTAKE! I had an unfortunate incident with the owners over housekeeping or lack there of I should say. I returned to my room to find that my room was not serviced. When I called the front desk they became very hostile and told me that housekeeping was gone for the day and my room would not be serviced. When I asked why it was never serviced to begin with, they gave me 3 different excuses as to why. 1. The do not disturb sign was on the door. I told him I'm looking at the back of my door now and the sign is hanging on the inside. 2. There was no one in my room when they came to clean it. Uhm, from my past experience guests do not need to be present to clean the room. 3. There was someone in my room so the house keeper could not enter. When I explained that I had been a visitor at the prison since 8:15am and no one was in my room, the insults began to fly. They began to insult me and said that all the people who visit the prison are crazy, thieves, takers, losers, liars. I'm sure you can imagine what my response was. Long story short, it ended in me cursing them out and leaving. But I did promise them I would make all aware of what their true feelings are of prison visitors. All I know is I refuse to give 1 cent to anyone who runs a business like they do and most importantly anyone who is as ignorant and judgmental as they have proven to be. NEVER AGAIN will I stay there! Thanks for listening.
