Really good choice

Reviewed 13 november, 2022

We spent a night at the Old Oak and were given Room 5 which is at the end of a run of 5 rooms built near the pub. There is plenty of free parking. The room was a good size with a large bed and a single, plus a settee and large TV with plenty of channels. The bathroom was excellent with bath and over-shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. We were very comfortable and slept extremely well as, even though the road is quite close, it was quiet through the night. Breakfast was amazing - huge with lots of choice and delicious. We will definitely stay again - and for longer next time.

Welcoming and comfortable

Good quality, well equipped rooms in a small building adjacent to the pub. The staff were friendly and efficient too. We ate breakfast and lunch in the pub. There was a good range of breakfast options and the chef was helpful. Excellent lunch too. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and there was plenty of space.

Me my husband and 2 sons have just stayed here in a family room as we was going to thirsk races, we arrived to joe on reception and a young lady we felt welcome straight away, our room was ready earlier than was told so that was lovely, the room was fantastic, lots of room, a double bed and 2 singles , was an absolute treat to have air con!there was a settee and a huge tv, tea coffee and other drinks and bisuits available in your room too! The gardens and outside seating area is just beautiful and relaxing! The food is plentyful, and lovely, the young ladies bringing yiur food was polite, we loved it that much we have booked 3x both for 2 nights next year! I fully recommend the old oak tree to you.

Beautiful home made food

Lovely pub with friendly staff. Family of 9 of us all had beautifully home made food. Couldn’t fault it. Highly recommended. Deserts were lovely also. All left with full bellies and very happy. Nice beer garden and dog friendly.

Gorgeous food

The accommodation was very good, everything you need for a short stay. The air con in room 2 was difficult to use due to its position on the wall, the remote signal didn't always reach, the air con speed was automatically reduced after so long. The fridge was a plus as was the huge TV. There is some traffic noise but once the room door was closed it was much better. Lovely terrace to sit in which is adjacent to the restaurant entrance. Plenty of toiletries and tea, coffee and milk. The only let down was the shower which was leaking profusely, we did mention this. Can highly recommend this place and the food was outstanding, (its definitely not just pub grub) ,particularly the fish dishes. The breakfast was first class. Excellent value for money, rooms were clean, staff friendly and efficient.
