Dated, but still reliable

Reviewed 22 february, 2020

PROS: - The property is located around 400 meters from Ueno station's Iriya exit, and around 300 meters from Inaricho station. - There are numerous restaurants and convenience stores near the vicinity; a 24-hour grocery store (Maruetsu) is also nearby. There is even a public bathhouse near the hotel. - Staff are courteous and attentive. In the lobby, you may freely get toiletries and tea sachets. - Rooms are actually quite spacious. It also comes with an induction stove and a microwave oven. - In-room wifi is fast and reliable. - Beds are comfortable and big. - There are English instructions on how to control the air-conditioner and the television. CONS: - The use of darker colors in the interiors make it seem that the property is drab and dated. - Bathrooms lack more hooks and shelves to place things on. - Housekeeping service does not exist. As a consequence, some guests may have a hard time sorting out their garbage. VERDICT: A nice place to stay in the Ueno-Asakusa area.

Good Stay

Reviewed 13 january, 2020

This hotel is only about 300m walking distance from the train station. There’s also another train station from a different location. Convenience stores like 7-11 and Family Mart are nearby, too. It’s a quiet neighborhood but very accessible to major areas and attractions of Tokyo. Love this hotel chain. They always offer guests with DHC products!

The room is bigger than other in the area

Reviewed 29 december, 2019

There are 2 Mystays hotels in the near by location, a bit confused. However the room was surprisingly big and come with a small pantry, the staff were helpful. I asked for extra blanket and they gave me for free. Not to far to walk to the station, easy to get around.

No room cleaning service and need to throw rubbish by yourself

Reviewed 30 october, 2019

Actually the hotel is located not far away from Ueno JR station, but in a quiet residential area, around 8 minutes from the station. I may overlook some special notes that no room cleaning service will be served when I book online. Anyway, when the receptionist tells me the fact and I need to dispose the rubbish to the central garbage bin by classifying different items, I’m a little frustrated. New towers can only be provided by request. It’s not worthy to pay a lot for such kind of hotel. It’s my first time to experience this.

My friend and I stayed here for the last part of out Japan trip for two nights. We had been trying to save money and had been picking cheap accommodation. This hotel was by far the worst we stayed at and the most expensive, we had a non-smoking room but could still smell cigarettes in the room, at some points so strongly we couldn't sleep. The room in general was tiny but that seems to be the norm for japanese hotels. The sheets were stained and the room was generally very run down with a very out of date bathroom. It is in a good location near to the station and restaurants but I believe you could find somewhere similarly priced and conveniently located at a much higher standard.
