Good location, very accessible. The hotel itself is dated and not well maintained, it does need a Cleaning! Unfortunately our view was of the homeless. One of the nice things was the staff, we had the pleasure of meeting crystal at the front desk. She greeted us with a smile and was happy check us in. She checked on us daily and was always pleasant. Aloha

We stay in a lot of Marriotts. This Residence Inn had good check in, but it took a lot longer than usual. We had to sign non-smoking papers, which means they must have issues they are trying to stop (yes, I smelled marijuana almost every time I was outside). I was disappointed that we had to pay for parking, especially given how difficult it was to find a space (And they are very narrow!). The courtyard grounds were really beautiful with tons of blooming flowers everywhere we looked. Our room was upgraded to a 2nd floor “penthouse” and was very comfortable. Our unit appeared to be clean, but our dishwasher had items in it. The staff left us a welcome note and snack bag, which was a nice gesture. Due to Covid, the breakfast was all items you could carry away in a bag (fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagel), but it was nice to have an option for a quick grab and go. Overall, we slept well, felt safe, and had what we needed. It was close to many restaurants, gas, a big mall, and a quick drive to the beach. This isn’t a location I would eagerly revisit, but it was fine.
Discriminated and Hate Crimed

The security guard on duty on 08/04/2021 doesn’t not have any customer service skills and he is very rude and disrespectful. He was walking around cursing in front of the children and families , he was hanging out with residents consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana on his shift at this residence inn facility.I was walking to my car and he said who tf are you what tf are you doing here what’s your room number and I told him excuse me you don’t have the right to speak to guest this way that’s not the way you ask people questions you need to work on your customer service and communication skills . As I was walking back to my room he called me a fat faggot in front of my family I never expected to be treated this way at a 4 star hotel that I’m paying my hard working money for regardless of what’s going on you don’t speak to people that way and let alone be homophobic . I can tell now he was discriminating me because he saw that I was a gay male and alone so he thought I wouldn’t speak up for myself I then told the night time manager and he didn’t even apologize to me for what the security said .
Sad but true a horrible experience upon returning from Iraq

Came home on my R&R after returning from a deployment in Iraq. Brought the family to Los Angeles so we could go to universal studios. When I initially tried checking in I was told the room was being cleaned. I was told to wait a few hours to check in so the room could be cleaned. My wife and I took the kids to eat and waited. We returned to the hotel and checked in. While checking in I was told there was a strict no smoking policy and signed a form stating I understood this. After getting our room keys and getting to the room we opened the door and the whole room smelled like cigarettes and marijuana. My wife called the front desk and they said they could helps us open the windows that was all they could do. My wife and I got the windows opened and the kids settled with no help from the staff. We then went into the room where we were sleeping and there was oily hand/palm prints all over the beds headboard and walls like someone had recently had sex in the bed and against the wall. Clearly me waiting 2hours because the room needed to be cleaned was false because the bed room was still dirty. My wife and I called the front desk to asked for new bedding and the room to be cleaned and the front desk attendant said he couldn’t access the housekeeping closet so there was nothing he could do. My wife and I had to go to target to get cleaning supplies and clean the room ourselves. The next morning we went back to the front desk to speak with a manager and was told she was busy. My wife explained the situation and the front desk attendant said she would credit my Marriott account with enough points to compensate our stay. We were told we could not get a refund because the room was booked through hotels.com. We felt this was a reasonable solution and returned to our room. The next day we went to check out and asked about the points and compensation for a horrible experience and the front desk attendant said she had no clue what we were talking about and couldn’t help us. She took my information and said the manager would contact me when she came in at 1pm. That was 3 days ago and still no call or credit to my account. This was a very unexpected experience especially throughout COVID to have a room that was obviously not cleaned is sad from a company as big as Marriott.
Terrible customer service
Reviewed 21 march, 2021
I don't even know where to start. The quality of this hotel is absolutely deplorable. If I could give it zero stars, I would. We came on Saturday and are leaving Tomorrow morning. We stayed here about two years ago and thought it was just OK because we got a regular room. This time we got a penthouse room that looks impressive on the hotel site, yet the reality is that the service of the hotel is just as bad, so overall it was not a good experience. This is definitely the last time that we are staying at this hotel. 1) Firstly, the day that we checked in was a bad experience. The level of customer service is very poor. I came at around 1 PM, understanding the room may not be ready. I just wanted to check in so that they can notify me when the room is ready. The woman at the front desk was very stringent and firm with no friendly matters, explaining that the room would be available only at 4 PM and that I can check in only at 4PM. I did not argue and left it alone. I even tried to call at 3 PM but was told the room still wasn't ready and I respect that. We came back at 4 PM, having left our family gathering that started at 3 PM. We checked in and got to the room. This is poor customer service because we had to be at a party that we had to leave from due to the lack of flexibility of this hotel. 2) The room is on the second floor of the building and it's two floors. On the first floor, we were horrified to see that the bathroom seat had several dried urine stains on it and two of the hand towels had dark thick pubic hair stuck to them. It was absolutely disgusting. We ended up getting that sheets as well as towels for my family and use those at the hotel. We also had Lysol spray and Lysol wipes and we disinfected both bathrooms ourselves. I was absolutely disgusted and quite irate over the fact that this hotel has the audacity to make me wait to check in until 4 PM, claiming they need to prepare the room, but clearly they have a lazy or inexperienced or thoughtless cleaning staff that did a terrible job. They clearly do not clean the rooms and they are not properly sanitized from what we saw. 3) Getting parking in your your room is almost impossible unless you park earlier in the day. If you come late at night after you've been to a restaurant or an event, and the hotel is busy, good luck getting a spot. This is upsetting because were paying over $16 a day for parking access so this is not OK. If you have luggage to bring up to your room, that can be frustrating. 4) On Sunday night, at about 10:35 PM, a group of guys staying at this hotel went out to the basketball court which is just outside our room and started making a very loud noises, like some backyard barbecue party. I couldn't believe it. We did call the front desk twice and they did get security out there and it finally got quiet again. Still, this was very frustrating. 5) The hotel is dated and the beds are just ok. As silver elite members with Marriott, this hotel does not meet the standards and it's very disappointing. I would never stay here again and I do not recommend it to anyone.
