Budget place for overnight stay

We stayed in Red Ledges Inn, 181 N Main Street Hwy 12 / 181 N Main St, Tropic, UT during our visit to Bryce Canyon for a night. From the picture before we booked looked like it was renovated and was under new management. But in reality there are room for improvement. We asked for a mountain view room but wasn't given one. Given It is a budget hotel price point is not bad.
In serious need of update -- still hasn't refunded nights we didn't stay

When we arrived at the motel, our room had quite a few stains on the carpet and there were little pieces of paper on the carpet in front of the bed, so it appeared the carpet had not even been vacuumed. The room was adequate, but kind of dark and dingy and certainly needs updated. There was no breakfast other than some granola bars in a basket. The only good thing about it is the location - close to Bryce Canyon. We saw Bryce Canyon on the day we checked in and had a tour scheduled for the next day. Unfortunately, we woke up to pouring rain and the tour was canceled. We explained this at the front desk and was told we would be refunded. It has been 3 weeks and still no refund, despite calling Red Ledges and getting Booking.com involved. Frustrating.
Comfortable, affordable “no frills” property

Very comfortable king sized bed. We stayed 2 nights and were surprised to learn that our room had been serviced while we were out touring! Located 10 miles from Bryce Canyon. This is a simple property and suitable for an overnight stay on the road. Breakfast is minimal (instant oatmeal & granola bars). We were very disappointed to learn that the laundry room is “out of order” because it is being used by hotel staff. Many restaurants within walking distance (including IDK BBQ).
OK For One Night

We wanted to stay somewhere close to Bryce National Park, but not pay a fortune for a one night stay. Bryce Canyon City accommodations were sky high, so we chose the Red Ledges Motel in the town of Tropic, about a 15 minute drive from the park. In general, the room was fine. It was remodeled, clean, had a fridge and microwave, flat screen TV, comfortable bedding and decent WiFi for a very reasonable price. There are also a handful of restaurants nearby and a grocery store next door. For the short time we were there it was ok. But this place wasn’t without its quirks. The front desk gave us an electronic card that didn’t work. The desk person then told us that the electronic door to that room doesn’t work, and gave us a regular key. You would think they would have fixed the mechanism, or at least not give us a key card! We also didn’t have any soap in the room. The stuff they gave us was eco-friendly and was pretty nasty. We recommend you bring your own. We kept hearing humming and gurgling noises intermittently and finally figured out it was coming from the fridge. But the best part was the ice. We were told by the first person at the desk that they kept it locked up! We inquired about getting ice the following morning and were told we could get some no earlier than 7am. So at 7am we went back and talked to another person at the desk, and she had no idea what we were talking about. She told us we’d have to go to the store and buy some. But then she went in the back and in a few minutes came back with a bucket of ice! You can’t make this stuff up! So, for a one night stay, considering the price, it was fine. As they say, you get what you pay for. If you need a longer stay, you might want to look elsewhere.
Needs some improvement

This property needs some attention. First, the good. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The property is conveniently located near Bryce and is within walking distance of several restaurants. We arrive in Tropic about 2:00 and stopped to see if early check-in was available. Nobody was at the front desk, but there was a sign with a phone number to call. I called the number three times over 90 minutes and was forwarded to a voicemail box that is not set up. The Heater/Air conditioner in the room is very noisy. The ice machine was broken. The Laundry machines are broken. There was no hot water when we showered in the morning. Windows, television and many parts of the room are quite dirty. The hallways have a lot of large stains on the carpet. Overall, I believe this property has a lot of potential, but it just needs a little bit of TLC.
