Dreams Tulum experience

Reviewed 29 january, 2023

I would not say Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa is 5 stars resort. Most likely from our experience it should be rated not more that 4 stars. Everything was average starts from outdated room decor and furniture, room service and the quality of resort itself. Some restaurants were closed for the dinner few times, that is not acceptable for luxury resort. If you want to have a feeling of luxury and quality, this resort is not for you.

Wonderful hacienda style resort with excellent beach. Staff was vey kind. During Covid, everyone was safe and took precautions. We adore Rodrigo who was new on the preferred club, was adorable, friendly and helpful. Rodrigo made our trip even better!

We had exceptional service the preferred club is worth every penny. The hibachi dinner is the best dont miss that! Drinks where also very good! Music at the beach bar nightly was very good as well. We would go back!

A real disappointment

Reviewed 28 january, 2023

This is the worst hotel that I have stayed in Mexico. We as 3 families were told that it was luxury by our agent and it isn’t. The beach location is great and beautiful, however the actual hotel is very dated and a little run down, the food was ok at best but after a week we were fed up with it. The staff were really hit and miss in terms of service but I would say that we experienced more bad than good and I can’t tell you how many times we were told “it’s not possible” by the staff! We had to argue almost on a daily basis for the 10 of us to sit together for dinner! I think the biggest disappointment for me is the way the hotel rips its guests off with over priced shops and pharmacy, we paid $15 for 2 AA batteries as an example. I would look elsewhere

Nice hotel. Extremely unfriendly front desk staff.

Reviewed 25 january, 2023

I’m still at the hotel, so I will probably write a more extensive review when I check out but I want to highlight one episode that made the beginning of our stay quite rough. After almost 24 hours of flying and transferring door to door, we finally got to the Dreams Tulum last night. My wife, my three daughters and myself were exhausted and we arrived at the hotel at 7 pm. One would think that, at that time, our rooms would have been ready and prepared but, no, the ‘contiguous’ rooms that we had requested were not available. When I asked for an explanation, the fairly rude front desk attendant said that they had absolutely no notice that we had requested contiguous rooms. When we showed him the printed voucher explicitly requesting that, he shrugged us off and said ‘it’s probably the operator’s fault who did not tell us anything’. I had my agent call the operator today and she was shown a printed screen of the very explicit communication with the hotel. Conclusion: the hotel could not care less about our request and wanted to put my wife and I in one room and my three young daughters in another room that was located in a different floor and fairly far away. After arguing back and forth for an hour (imagine how exhausted we were by then), they reluctantly gave us two rooms that are ‘close to each other’ and that is where we are right now. I will probably write a more extensive review once we are done with out stay but the beginning was not encouraging, at all.
