A 75th birthday stay was made exceptionally special at Oyster Box Hotel, in Umhlanga, South Africa. A dainty cake platter & bottle of wine greeted us upon arrival.All of the front desk staff, Saskia & Sharen especially, did the hotel proud with their professionalism & patience. Josh (from the poolside team) was a pleasure to encounter whenever we were poolside. An all round fantastic experience for any foodie too - The Light House Bar & The Ocean Terrace were Favorites.The Spa was a treat: service levels & food means we will definitely return to this gem of a place in the near future. It certainly caters to the international traveller. Well done to the Oyster Box Team- South Africa!

A hotel that continuously earns its long-serving history of style, class, glamour and luxury. Nothing was too much trouble. All members of the hotel's personnel were determined to keep us happy and very comfortable. A special thanks to Roberto, Justin and Angel for making our brief, four-night stay so memorable.

Excellent service from Julian who provided shuttle service. Was friendly, courteous and went above and beyond call of duty. Place was beautiful, clean, well kept and on par with our expectations of a five star experience. Will definitely visit again.

We had an opportunity to stay for 2 nights in The Oyster Box and had the most fantastic experience and memories! Excellent staff and service, everything is well thought out and arranged! Rooms are well cleaned and looked after, delicious food and super service! We enjoyed every minute and shall definitely be back! Thank you to all staff of the Oyster Box for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable!

Somehow our travel agents got us the Presidential Suite. A two floor luxury room with own bar, dinning area, balcony, garden etc. This came with our own butler, Justin, who was there at the airport and catered for all our needs inc serving the private dinner on our second night. Clearly most do not stay in this so this review will try to cover other aspects as well. From what I could see most rooms would have have the same in terms of the general facilities. Some have sea views and some with door opening on to the garden. The hotel is on various different levels but there are lifts for those who might need them. Staff were very friendly and looked after all our needs. Justin was always on hand to assist at meal times etc. Breakfast was in the Ocean Terrace with both inside and outside tables. Most of the breakfast was a hot and/or cold buffet but some items you could order from the menu. In our two days we did not have lunch, by choice due to food amounts! Evening meal (this may apply to lunch as well) was again at the Ocean Terrace or, ,more formally, in the Grill. We did not try the latter only due to our afternoon arrival after a long flight plus connection, so something less formal and the private dinner on our second night. We sat outside at the Ocean Terrace but the weather intervened with wind and rain which despite the covers and best efforts of the staff forced us inside. However most of the time its a nice place to be outside. There was a good choice of food to cover most tastes and a nice wine selection. Good service and a nice atmosphere. The bar is opposite the Ocean Terrace. This has comfortable chairs with tables of different sizes to suite a larger group. It was not ever over full so was relaxing and a nice place for a pre-dinner drink. Afternoon tea is also available in the Ocean Terrace and given the number of people in there when we arrived is clearly very popular. Everywhere in the hotel was clean and tidy. The great impression was the staff, as mentioned they were friendly and looked after our needs. But further this went right though the hotel organisation, showing they were all part of ensuring their guests had a great and memorable time. One regret, we only stayed two nights.
