Great hotel centrally in Uppsala

Reviewed 2 september, 2021

Very central location next to the railway station, and walking distance to 'everything'. Friendly staff and good quality on cleanliness and delivery of services. Strongly recommended for both business trips and leisure.

A week in Uppsala - the good, bad and the ugly...

Reviewed 29 august, 2021

Fantastic location, literally across the street from the Central Station, a 20-min train ride from Arlanda Airport, and a 30-min ride from Stockholm. A relatively new and modern hotel, 7 floors and very Scandinavian in design (and service). The reception desk personnel were either exceptionally friendly, helpful and funny, or uncaring and morose (when present - often, one had to wait many minutes for someone to show up - and early in the AM, forget it, no response). Dinner in the Picnic Restaurant was reasonable, but the restaurant is actually part of the lobby, so do not expect a real "restaurant" atmosphere. The service was great, and the waiter was extremely helpful in recommending items from the menu. The room reminded me of being in Tokyo - it was clean but minuscule. Bathroom/shower/kitchen (yes, ALL THREE in one 6ft x 10ft area) was clean, but had not been maintained in a long time - rust/grime in corners and on the bottom of the shower divider, etc. The furniture was functional, but stained and cracked in spots. The bed and linen were nice and fresh (extra points). The "wardrobe" was literally a cut-out in a wall, and could handle one row of 3 shirts and a suit - it had a depth of approx. 6-7 inches. No refrigerator (BIG miss), the cabinet that clearly once housed a refrigerator was now home to two extra pillows... In short, great location, (some) friendly staff, and a good night's sleep - if you get a room with a functioning thermostat. In mine, the temperature was about 68F regardless of changing the dial from extreme + to - (no actual degree readings available). And yes, I gave the thermostat plenty of time to change at each setting, about 24 hrs. It made no difference.

Average hotel with a great location

Reviewed 2 august, 2021

We booked a 'superior' room. It was pretty average, though. The open plan bathroom was fine since we had read previous reviews and were prepared for it - we booked the superior room so that we could have a balcony and nice view. The bathroom could have been cleaner - the fixtures were showing their age and had calcium/soap scum deposits along the floor. The shower drain smelled pretty terrible and we had to run water in the shower for a few minutes for it to go away. We didn't say anything to the staff about it because it went away, so not a dealbreaker. The bed was super uncomfortable, though! It felt like a simple mattress on top of a plywood board. And it moved all over the place - like it was on wheels! Every time we sat on it it moved about 10 cm off the wall. We didn't get great sleep, but the room was quiet at night. Breakfast was normal hotel breakfast fare. They requested that we sign up for a breakfast time upon check-in to control the amount of people there at the same time, but I'm not sure how they were enforcing that...on the second morning we had to wander around the area for about 10 minutes before we were finally able to snag a table, it was really crowded! Definitely not corona-safe. At check-in time the line waiting to check in was out the door both days we were in the lobby at that time. Overall, it felt like a pretty standard hotel stay, not luxury or 'superior.' The prices were fair. The newness of the hotel is wearing off and the rooms are in need of a deep clean and fresh furniture.

Not enough personnel

Reviewed 1 august, 2021

We stayed one week in Radisson Blu while visinting friends and family in Uposala. Compared to our last stay for 3 years ago, the quality of service has dropped down quite a lot.The personnel are helpful but they just don't have enough personnel at the hotel. The queues in the front desk are just annoying. If you are used to Middle European hotel standard rooms, Radisson is not for you. Most if the rooms are just too small! A nice suprise is ordering breakfast to your room!Just great. Being in Sweden middle of the summer, we were missing the berries in the breakfast selection (instead of imported pineapple..).

Breakfast good but the room is very mediocre and nothing special. The bedroom and the bathroom aren't really separated… so no privacy if you share. We stayed on the top floor and you weren't able to open the windows at all. Location is good though.
