Excellent Property - Clean Rooms - Extremely Friendly Staff - Perfect Location
Definitely would stay here again. Hotel staff was very friendly. Probably the friendliest staff at any hotel ever. Needless to say, the check-in went fast and very smooth. The room was super clean and sanitized. The view from the room was great with the water, a glacier and the mountains in the distance. Everything worked well in the room and there is a nice table with a couple of chairs for eating carry-out every meal. Check-out was just as fast and easy as check-in. The hotel provided free breakfast, but I did not use this amenity, so I can't comment on the breakfast. The location was perfect, right in the heart of town. You could walk to anywhere in Valdez from this location. Parking was free and easily available right in front. There is a side exit on the far right of the parking lot, but it was locked for entrance for security reasons, but it was convenient when exiting.
Dated hotel/Very good for price paid
This hotel is a little dated, but for the price you pay, it's very good. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was cooked to order eggs of your choice. The chef was very good and friendly. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The refrigerator and microwave were nice to have. Everything was in good working condition.
We'd stay here again
It's not a fancy place, but it's clean and the staff was friendly. Don't go for the decor (different flowered prints on the bedspread, curtains and valance), but go for the affordable place to stay in a good location. The breakfast provided was very good and kept us going until lunch nicely. We had a small problem with the billing, but it was solved in a timely and efficient manner.. They were very accommodating!
Hotel out of the 1980's
Because we couldn't find accommodations before Valdez, we booked very late in the day and one one other hotel as a choice in Valdez. When we arrived, the disinterested young man on duty casually checked us in and pointed up the stairs to our room on the second floor. Everything about the room seemed old-the room itself, the furniture, the bathroom fixtures and the decorating. In addition, the room had a musty smell. There was an included breakfast served in a huge, dark room behind the lobby. It may have been the time we went down to the buffet, but there was a very limited selection and almost everything was cold except for the waffles we could make ourselves. While we were eating, the cook came out with a heaping platter of hot bacon for himself and three other employees. My wife loves bacon and there had been none as a choice-need I say more? The hotel's positives were it was available and was located immediately across the street from the maritime museum which was a very interesting look into Alaska's from original setters up to and including the oil spill. That being said, there's zero chance we'd stay here again!
Clean, comfortable, reasonable and easy to get to
The complimentary breakfast was good (waffle machines, eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, bagels etc.), the staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable. We had 3 rooms, 6 people ranging in age from 45 to 83 who stayed two nights here, and we were all content with our rooms and the amenities. While the facility is older it is still pleasant. I would recommend it.
