Awful stay. We feel scammed
Reviewed 25 July, 2021
Awful stay! Drilling construction workers leave this place noisy, and also seemingly piss outside because there's a strong stink of evaporated piss. And they're currently painting so thinner fumes are everywhere. Airco and TV were broken. After a room change the toilet was blocked. The third room is a little better but still reeks of piss. The manager, from far away, refused to cancel our last night because apparently nothing is their fault. They only take cash and once they have it they couldn't care less about their clients.
Stuffy cubicle- no wink of sleep

It’s beyond me why this place received so good reviews. Even though the shared areas are clean and modern looking, practically the rooms are made out of a narrow corridor- they just put in stud walls and here you go, this cubicle is the room for you!
Practically all rooms (single or double) are the same cubicle style, separated by thin stud walls right next to each other. All dark and stuffy as there are no windows. There is no window, however the area above the door is open so you get air - I tell you not much as the room feels super stuffy inside. It’s super humid and stuffy inside that even the sheet feels damp. A fan is supplied, but it makes so much noise, there is no point in putting it on.
Furthermore, practically the poor construction with the thin walls and the open ‘breathing hole’ means that YOU HEAR EVERYTHING - phone calls at the reception, next door couple is having a couple time, someone is turning in bed, someone yarns, someone is having a big sigh, someone walks down the corridor, someone is having a pee, someone is flushing the toilet, someone is brushing his/her teeth, Japanese girl is having a phone conversation with mum at midnight.. etc.
My breathing hole is right in front of the lamp at the corridor so I had plenty of lights to keep me awake.
I wouldn’t even keep my dog in narrow and airless rooms like that, let alone people. I slept with an eye shade and earplugs but still I was woken up by the noise coming from outside and I’m wide awake since 5am.. I booked 2 nights but probably I’ll abandon my 2nd night and I go somewhere else. This place is not habitable and practically it’s not possible to sleep here at all (your privacy is invaded too)
They seem to be not exactly cool people either - lots of threatening messages on the wall - you pay a fine for this/you pay a find for that. You need to pay in cash right at check in. They keep your ID card until you pay.
Worst hotel experience I’ve ever haf

This “hotel” (more like a slum) runs a scam operation on busy nights. They’ll take multiple non-refundable reservation and then cancel, taking your money and giving the room to someone else.
They also deliberately misrepresent themselves online - they listed the wrong phone number on booking.com so they can’t be contacted and they refuse to list your reservation as cancelled on the app (again, so they aren’t liable to cancelling on guests last minute)
This is a fraudulent operation.
Terrible- DO NOT STAY

I cannot for the life of me understand how this place has 4 stars. If i could leave 0/5 i would. Initially on arrival we thought this place was ok- the common are is fine and the bathrooms are clean. However, for reasons unbeknownst to me, there are gaps between the top of the room walls and the next room and only a thin layer of mesh between rooms. THIS MEANS THAT YOU CAN HEAR EVERY SINGLE THING GOING ON IN THE ROOM NEXT TO YOU AND BEYOND AND THAT LIGHT WILL TRAVEL INTO YOUR ROOM FROM THE ROOMS NEXT TO YOU AND THE HALLWAY.
I can hands down say this is the WORST hostel i have ever stayed in- my boyfriend and i did not sleep a wink due to the noise of our neighbours and whoever else was walking down / switching on lights in the corridor. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone - we had booked 2 nights though checked out at 8am the following morning and checked into a place with actual walls between rooms (as one is entitled to expect) at a hotel across town. Avoid this place if you want a good nights sleep- its not even worth the saving you make on how cheap the room is- it's cheap for a reason!!! (Though in my opinion no amount of money is worth staying in this place).
Staff were nice and polite however and like i say above the rooms and bathrooms were clean- if they actually finish constructing the rooms so that the noise doesnt travel this would be an ok place to stay.
For a short stay its ok

We only stayed 1 night and this was totally fine for us.
The Hostal is really cute and looks more then a hotel, the beds are super comfortable and the showers are really nice. They offer towels and soap for everyone.
They have a nice "roof top" area to hang out in the evening.
The location ist central in Valladolid - only a few walking minutes to the plaza.
The hostel has some private parking areas, what we really liked.
Unfortunatley, the rooms are not closed to the top, so it is really noisy and you can hear everything and of course its not really dark. So you always know what your neighboors are doing...
Its a little weird that the toilets and showers next to the eating room.
