1st Year Anniversary win :-)

My husband and I went here for our 1st Anniversary weekend. We had been planning an in-province vacation as we live in Alberta, however, I won a contest on Instagram sponsored by Sandman, Chop and Grouse Mountain - so off we went to Vancouver for an extended weekend at the end of September. The weather was great - believe it or not - and the staff at the hotel were awesome! Although an older property, it is clean and service is quite good. Our first night we were in one of the top floor penthouse suites with a nice city view, however I was really wanting an ocean view so requested a switch and were graciously accommodated! Attached pictures are from the 2nd room with a view we ended up staying in for four three nights. There are lots of restaurant options on Davie street surrounding the hotel and we even ventured to the grocery store to pick up some items so we could eat in the room a couple of times. There are only so many elevators so be prepared to occasionally wait - I wouldn't suggest leaving your departures to the last minute. One thing I found interesting was they actually take your hotel deposit from your credit card which wasn't an issue for us but could be for others - it took about a week to be refunded so if you are depending on using the same credit card for spending money, keep that in mind. I lived in Vancouver previously for 4 years and am fine with walking anywhere etc however the street seems to have filled up a bit with some unsavoury characters and I always loved the neighbourhood...once it got a bit late i decided it wouldn't be the best option to walk around without my husband - that being said, I never felt unsafe - just sometimes sad for those who appeared to need help. Likely COVID business closure related etc. We did go swimming one night which was lovely - it was chilly in the air but the pool was heated enough. All in all, great stay and we would definitely stay here again :-) NOTE: there is a tiny bakery about a block and a half over on Davie towards the water, we fell in love with everything they made!
Excellent location! Kitchen in the studio

The hotel is an older building, but the location beats any odds. It is located on Davi street surrounded by restaurants, markets and bars. We went everywhere walking. As we already know Vancouver our trip was to explore and see things as a local and the location of this hotel did not disappoint. Our studio had a bay view, incredible pretty. It was 1 bed, bath and a small kitchen with a living room area. There was even a working station as some of us were still working during the week we were there. Plus the balcony. Only negative point was that we stayed 8 days and there was not housekeeping due covid regulations. But I would stay again.
Good service old building amenities

Overall we were on the happy side with our stay. Service was as best as it could get. Unfortunately staff couldn’t really help us with our concerns as they were building related such as the elevator making a sound large enough to disrupt sleep at night and the AC barely cooling the room, more on the air blower side which made it almost hot air like blowing out at night.
Great location in Vancouver.

Great location and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops close by. Great little bar across the street called 1181. Enjoyed our stay as has a beautiful view of the harbour. Only negative is rooms are older and could use some updating, but good value for the location. Just a 5 minute walk to St. Paul’s hospital.

This is a budget friendly hotel close to many attractions. We stayed here 6 nights and our room was on the 11 th floor. The furnishings are not the greatest but the room was clean and comfortable. It’s nice to have a separate bedroom and a small kitchen. We went out for dinner nearby and brought meals in also. Our favourite place was Pho Goodness. Oh my, good food and huge portions. Walked to Independent Supermarket and BC Liquors within minutes. That’s a bonus! We had an issue with the washing machine and the toilet. Reported these issues with front desk and within hours someone came to repair them. This was much appreciated. Front desk workers were friendly and accommodating. If you want a small apartment type hotel in the heart of everything, then this is the place to go. Would highly recommend this location.
