short break
nice clean hotel. When arriving at the hotel don't use a map as this shows a small road which has now been pedestrianised .you get off the ferry just to your left less than 5oyds is the hotel. I tried to find the road and wasted time LOL. As with others I arrived late and had to phone hotel for the code, prson was unable to speak English and spoke very fast .as I have some knowledge of Italian the problem was solved. well located 10min slow walk to beach, both private and public ,directly in front of ferry and bus stops for getting to other islands and beaches on the lido. with the cost of getting to the other islands at approx. 20€ return what with the time it takes,if you are a couple, possible consider hotels on main island. Althuogh august the lido had a calm matmosphere
Decent base for Venice trip
My partner & I had an incredible trip to Venice & the surrounding islands! We chose to stay in Lido because we had been recommended it by friends & it is much cheaper to stay. I’m glad we stayed in Lido - it was stunning with great restaurants & beach & out of the hustle & bustle of Venice. The hotel itself was a decent base for us - prime location being opposite the water taxis, round the corner from the main strip of restaurants & 10 min walk from the beach. Ideal! Breakfast was okay - same stuff every day but filled a hole before exploring. We were most disappointed upon arriving that we realised the air con wasn’t working. We went to reception & were told it was ‘jacket weather’ last week so it was still set to heating & an engineer had to set to air con. We asked when this would happen & weren’t filled with much hope we’d have air con during our 4 night stay. I asked to be kept updated & maybe to put a note under our door with any updates. We slept with the windows open & were cool enough but it was disappointing to not be offered with a fan or anything to help with the heat & also on our last morning we were asked ‘have you tried the air con?’ Of course we hadn’t because we hadn’t been given any updates! Turns out it had been on since the day before. No note or update provided & if he hadn’t seen us that day we would have been none the wiser!
Nice enough hotel with Faulty Towers twist
This hotel is well located on the Lido just across from the Vaporetto wharf. We arrived mid afternoon but unfortunately the hotel is not manned after approximately 1:00pm. The hotel manager claimed he had sent us (and another guest) the code to access entry to the building and our room key but no messages existed for anyone. We had to wait until other guests arrived to let us in. We did not see anyone until we were leaving breakfast the next morning and had a conversation with the hotel manager. We then waited for him the next morning to settle city taxes etc but at 8:15am he still had not arrived and we had to leave for the airport. It was all a bit ad hoc. The hotel room however was very nice and clean and the hotel is very well located. Restaurants and bars are steps away and there is a bicycle rental right next door. The Lido was a great choice with lots of restaurants, great views across to Venice and the wonderful experience of travelling back and forth by Vaporetto (water taxi). You can also easily access the airport which doubles as a great water tour. If you choose this hotel, just make sure you understand you will have to drive the communication and ensure you are either arriving when someone is there or you actively obtain the access code. The only really negative comment is about the woman who organises breakfast. She is obviously not a morning person and whilst we were not able to communicate with her in her language, we did try to be pleasant but she was actually quite rude.
Fantastic Location
This hotel is in a fantastic location across the road from the main transport terminal. However, the hotel lacks the human touch, and we arrived mid afternoon to an envelope on the desk with our room keys in - there only seems to be anyone around for a couple of hours first thing on a morning. We were fortunate enough to have a room with an amazing view across the lagoon to Venice and although the bedroom was a reasonable size, the bathroom was tiny and lacked space to put toiletries etc. The windows in the bedroom were well insulated to block out any noise from traffic or the bar below. Breakfast was provided each morning, with a good selection of items to choose from.
1st stop in Italy
After an 8+ hour flight,we enjoyed the water taxi ride and were very pleased to see Hotel Giardinetto as soon as we arrived on Lido.We were well received. the rooms were a bit small but adequate.AC worked well, good water, great coffee at breakfast along with croissant. nice area to walk around and enjoy many restaurants and gelato shops.Short water taxi to see the many beautiful Venice attractions.
