Very convenient.
Traveled with family, had connecting rooms. View of the port from our window. Very safe area, right on the port. The hotel has disinfectant mats, and gel, but no one taking temperatures regularly at the door, just upon check-in. On our visit the elevator was not working. Rooms were quite large and the bathroom had a door separating the toilet and shower from the sink. Had TV and air conditioning. Parking for maybe 8-10 cars at the most. Restaurants and stores all within walking distance. Close to the Zocalo where there was nightly entertainment sponsored by the local government.
Dirty and Noisy
Upgrading to an ocean view room was a mistake. It faces the noisy malecon and the patio doors rattle in the strong wind storms. The beds were hard with lumpy pillows. Overall the room was dirty with a clogged shower. Only bath towels are provided. No hand towel or bath mat. I didn't like stepping from a flooded shower onto a dirty floor. Seven days was way too long to stay here.
Met expectations for the room rate.
The hotel is an excellent centralized location for getting intimate with the Port City of Veracruz. The staff was excellent. The bathroom in our unit could use some restoration but other than that, no complaints. The Ruiz Milan is right on the Malecon. It's far enough from the Zocalo so that the noise from the nightly festivities do not interrupt your sleep, but it's close enough to walk safely to the Zocalo. My wife and I stayed for two weeks at a $29 US per night. For that price we were not expecting high class accommodations but were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was built in 1947. If you are a fussy, stuffy, "Ugly-American" type of traveler you should probably stay at the Emporio. If you are not phased by staying in a Motel 6 then you'll consider the Milan to be quite an upgrade. The hotel is close to what interested us: the Malecon, the Zocalo, and El Gran Café de la Parousia. We rented a car while in Mexico so we used the hotel garage. The garage is adjacent to the hotel. The hotel only allows you to take your car out once per day but this was not a problem because we used our car for long day trips. The AC unit in our room worked very well, but it is not central air so it must remain at a preset level whenever you turn it on. It worked so well that we used a blanket at night. There is a small indoor swimming pool with an attached Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi uses room-temperature water, not heated water.
Great hotel very comfy bed
Super clean rooms, newly remodeled from the looks. Great place to stay and walk around to see the sights. Staff is very helpful and friendly! Close to the "Portales" and Plaza Zócalo, just a short walk for some great people watching! The malacon is also just out the door and you can walk the entire port if you wish.
Great Hotel, Great View
We stayed a couple of nights at the Ruiz Milan and really enjoyed it. We had an upper floor balcony room with a lovely view on the Malecon and the port. Very nice staff, clean and comfortable room, reasonably priced. Highly recommended!
