My friends and I (party of 7) stayed here for four nights while seeing all the sights in DC and it was a decent home base. The best part about this hotel is the proximity to the L'Enfant Metro station, but don't mistake that as a great location. The area around the hotel is clean and safe, but sterile. As others mentioned, there are no restaurants besides Quiznos and McDonald's, and it's just a very deserted business area. We requested connecting rooms not facing the train tracks and the staff was able to honor both requests. The rooms were rather small and tight--the furniture felt too big for the room size. We faced the interior courtyard which was quiet, but the rooms were always kind of dark. Beds and bathroom were clean and comfortable. We were so busy so we didn't mind too much, but the rooms are just average. We went to the Starbucks on the way to the Metro every morning which was convenient. The hotel is walking distance from museums and the mall but not much else, as mentioned earlier, the proximity to the metro is the main advantage. On a similar, busy trip I wouldn't mind staying here again, but I think I'd prefer a more interesting neighborhood to feel more at home. I would recommend this hotel for a busy/short trip where Metro proximity is a must.
Pros & Cons

Pro: Centrally located within walking distance to many of the major attractions. Con: Only fast food restaurants nearby, some with limited hours. Of the two hotel restaurants, one was closed and the other was only opened some days. Pro: As IHG members, we were upgraded to a very large suite. Con: There are train tracks behind the hotel and freight trains run frequently and the noise in the room was very loud. In addition, the walls of the room were paper thin and we could hear the guests in the adjoining rooms. We were MOST DISSATISFIED with the front desk staff. We had 2 reservations, one for 4 nights & one for 1 night. When we checked in, I was assured that the two reservations would be combined and I would not have to do anything further. When I called to schedule maid service on day 4, I was told we did not have a reservation for a 5th night and was asked to come to the front desk with the paper work. When I got there I was then told that they did, after all, have the reservation. This situation caused unneeded stress! When we checked in on day one, we reserved ONE night at the hotel parking garage at a cost of $53 and were given a pass with the dates of check in and check out. DO NOT PARK IN THE HOTEL PARKING GARAGE!! Directly across the street from the hotel at 600 Maryland Avenue SW, you can reserve much cheaper parking through SpotHero. Here is the kicker - we received a bill from the hotel for parking in their garage on night 5 and fortunately, we had saved the original parking voucher from night 1 to show to the manager who despite the fact that it had the specific dates of check in and check out, STILL wanted to charge us for night 5! Our car was in the garage across the street for nights 2, 3, 4 and 5. How ridiculous!!
Great Location For Museum Visit

A good hotel/location for museums on or near the National Mall. The rooms are clean, water is hot, and the noise is manageable. The beds are not comfortable; they have no springs, just a board under the mattress. One negative. There are hardly any restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. It's pretty much McDonald's and the night walk will keep you alert. If restaurants are important, stay North of the National Mall.

I was scheduled to stay at the hotel a few days from now. I prepaid for the room. Since I'm unable to go do to medical symptoms, I requested a refund, even though I'm technically not entitled to one. It was granted by the hotel manager, which was very thoughtful and appreciated. That's the way to ensure a customer will return, or in my case, rebook.
Middle of the action at National Mall

Our check-in was fast and friendly and handled by Keeida. She was friendly and helpful. We had a king room. The room was clean and comfortable looking out on the courtyard. We had restful sleep each night of our stay. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I loved the shower! The water was hot and the water pressure was great. This hotel is located right on C Street and one turn from the Metro which is within walking distance to anywhere you want to go in the National Mall area. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
