Staff with misplaced priorities

Reviewed 10 march, 2023

Stayed here for a night, then switched hotels to be closer to my next appointment. An hour later I realized I had left my suit jacket hanging in the room. I tried to call the front desk to confirm the cleaning crew had found the jacket, and was put on indefinite hold - 25 minutes, after which I hung up and tried again. This time I was placed on hold without even an answer. I gave up again after another 15 minutes and made the half hour trip back to the hotel. Fortunately I was able to retrieve my jacket, and then asked why no one would answer the phone when I called. "Oh, we were speaking to a technician about a problem with the hotel computer system and didn't want to interrupt". WTAF?????!!!!!

Great family hotel

Reviewed 23 january, 2023

We had a great stay at the hotel. While there was some renovation work being carried out, this did not impact our stay at all. The staff were all very friendly, and accomodating of our requests. The breakfast each day was well stocked and varied each morning. We stayed in a suite which was huge. There were 2 queen beds, a kitchenette, dining table and a sitting area and the bathroom had a seperate vanity area which was amazing for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. There were also plenty of affordable dining options within walking distance.

Super Nice Hotel

Reviewed 29 december, 2022

This hotel is just perfect for someone who can't afford a grand a night, but still wants a wonderful hotel with all the amenities of a much more expensive hotel. This Residence Inn is within walking distance to everything in D.C. The staff is so very helpful. Check in and check out was easy. The rooms are well sized, we got a suite, and 2-4 people would be very happy in one of their suites, there were the two of us but we wanted separate beds so we did the suite and just loved it so much. It is super clean. well cared for and it really is just as nice as some of the places nearby that are twice the price. The food there and within walking distance from there is amazing. There is nothing you will not like about the Residence Inn by Marriott.

Average Hotel

Reviewed 21 november, 2022

I had read previous reviews about the Residence Inn Downtown DC which I should have taken heed to. My friends and I were in DC for Howard's Homecoming weekend. Upon arrival to the hotel, I was told that the room I had reserved was not available because the hotel was sold out of rooms. Sold out?! I had never experienced a room that I reserved being unavailable. So what am I supposed to do? This is Washington, DC, and Howard University's homeconing weekend. There weren't going to be any rooms available for the price I reserved. I ask to speak to the manager and he told me the same as the front desk staff member stated. He stated that he would work on it, but couldn't guarantee me the room would have two queen beds. I stated the room HAD to have two queen beds to accommodate three mature, average sized women. We left the hotel to go to the NMAAHC museum to tour it. While at the museum, I called the hotel to check on the status of the room situation. The front desk rep stated the manager worked it out for us to get the room I had reserved. By the time we arrived, the room was ready for us to check in and shower. The room was average looking, with a small bathroom. It can stand to be updated, or modernized a bit. I mentioned this to the manager, but he stated the building of the hotel is old, and there are restrictions with historic buildings. The breakfast was below average, not a variety of hot foods as in other Marriott properties in the same price range. The hotel is in an awkward location on the street. When I returned home, I realized I forgot to pack my pajamas, which is my fault. When I realized this and called the hotel a few days later, they were no where to be found. I did ask if the maid service has a lost and found, which I was told they did. I never received a phone call that the pajamas were located. I would consider other hotels in the area before reserving a stay here again.
