The Ven is a boutique hotel with a great feel. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Since it is a Marriott property they treat Bonvoy members extra special. Rooms are a bit dated but in keeping with the feel of the hotel. I'll definitely be returning next time I stay in this part of town.

Lipstick on a cheap hotel

The new branding, the lobby and the staff were very nice, but it stops there. Very little attention was paid to updating the rooms, some wallpaper and a sloppy coat of paint on the bathroom ceiling. The bathroom was tiny and did not feel upgraded (aside from aforementioned paint on the ceiling) paint and backing on mirror were chipping and peeling. Outlets were not conveniently placed near the bed and many of them were loose and/or didn't work. I was here for work and my devices did not charge overnight due to non-working and loose outlets. Good luck getting a good night's sleep. HVAC was rattling and loud. The walls are paper thin, I could hear my neighbor's conversation like they were in my room. Every time a door closes in the corridor you can hear it slam. No ice machine in the alcove labeled "ice machine" in the corridor. No mini-fridge.

Fantastic hotel with staff excelling in hospitality excellence

Fantastic hotel with staff that know what good hospitality is all about, from reception to the evening bar and housekeeping. My rooms was serviced wonderfully every day without fail even over the new year holiday. The location is great with lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby and even a long(ish) but pleasant walking distance to the national mall. Highly recommend all round.

Amazing stay with helpful staff!

I had the pleasure of staying at The Ven in Washington DC. Let me say that the service is fantastic and warm, everyone was so willing to do whatever was asked of them with pleasure. The Front office manager Lyle was a kind gentleman with a great smile and a great overall attitude. I would like to mention Wanda,Kathy, Kenneth, Fassil, Ahlem and Brian at breakfast. I recommend this hotel to anyone that is appreciative of great service and also for anyone exploring Washington DC, as it is in the heart of the city!

1 week in Nov 2022 - positives & negatives
Reviewed 19 november, 2022
Just returned from a 1 week stay at this hotel. It’s fair to say the hotel has a lot of positives so let’s start with these. Location - Great location with DuPont Circle metro station very close by allowing you to travel around DC very easily. Staff - Great staff, particularly Jennifer (the manager), Kenneth (manager) and Donna in the bar/dining area. Entrance - A very modern and fresh entrance / reception / bar area. Food - Only had breakfast but we could not fault the food each morning. Unfortunately, we did encounter some issues during our stay however Jennifer & Kenneth were quick to put these right for us. The issues mainly centred around noise. There are roadworks ongoing directly outside the hotel which start at 7am each morning (except Sunday). I appreciate that this is out with the hotels control but very disruptive nonetheless. The buttons in the lifts are so worn you can barely read them so rather frustrating. I was glad to see other guests struggle with this too so it wasn’t just us finding it difficult. We initially had a room on the second floor. 3 nights in and we had to ask to be moved. The noise of room doors banging and being slammed was frequent. Not sure why other guests just can’t close their doors quietly? The hotel should explore soft closing mechanisms on the room doors which would solve the issue. The water flow from the sink in this room was also very poor and the AC unit was incredibly noisy, so much so we had to switch it off. We were then moved to a room on floor 6 which we were extremely grateful to Kenneth for sorting out. Internally the room was nice & Modern looking but lots of minor faults that we wouldn’t expect. Bedside light not working, USB station on desk not working, dirty shower curtain, loose plug sockets on wall and again a noisy AC unit. To be fair we didn’t report these to the hotel at the time as we felt we did t want to continually find fault, so just made the best of what we had. We were provided with some snacks and breakfast vouchers due to the issues experienced with our first room - Thank you as these were gratefully appreciated. Overall the hotel was ok for us as we barely spent anytime there but the minor issues we experienced let it down. The staff did what they could to help improve our stay which was great. Would I return? Due to the number of issues - probably not and would likely try elsewhere. All in all a 6/10 for us however I’m sure once improvements are made, staying at the hotel will be a much more comfortable experience.
