One night stay while visiting Weston's Lunatic Asylum
Reviewed 28 november, 2021
We booked two rooms for us and daughter's family the night before a visit to my old employer and now the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum (it was Weston State Hospital when I worked there). The hotel was easy to get to from I-79 and US 33/48 and parking was plentiful. A few restaurants, gas stations, and discount stores very close. Check-in was quick and easy. Staff were friendly and helpful but none of them wore masks during this pandemic period. Our room was spacious with a decent-sized bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. TV, wifi, HVAC, and mini-fridge worked well. Breakfast was good: sausage & gravy, pre-made omelets (good for pre-made!), yogurts, fresh fruit, breads/muffins, juice, teas, and coffee (plus other stuff). Overall, the hotel was very clean, in good condition, and quiet (traffic noise from nearby I-79 was not noticeable). We did not hit the pool or exercise room but we did take a couple walks thru the next-door cemetery to prep for the spooky Asylum tour...
Mostly a good experience

Clean and comfortable room. Bed and pillows were supportive and cozy. Bathroom was immaculate. Only issue was a few blood stains on the sheets, although it looked like the bedding WAS washed before the bed was made. Not a staff issue, but other guests were blaring loud music and being loud right outside our window, which made it hard to sleep at various points. Breakfast tasted very good and there was a variety of options, great start to the day. Front desk staff was professional and polite.

My husband is an IHG platinum member so we’ve stayed at many HIE across the country. We give this one two thumbs up! We didn’t arrive until after 11 PM and it took only minutes to check in. We really appreciated the complimentary water. I was prepared to purchase water but discovering it was free was such a nice touch. It’s something they could make money on but chose to treat guests like true valued guests. We had room 212 - a suite with two Queen beds, a pull out sofa, coffee table, and small fridge/microwave. The room darkening blinds were fantastic! Not a sliver of light was allowed in until we wanted to get up. We requested a later check out and was extended until 1 PM. The complimentary breakfast was appreciated… COVID still has a halt on the pancakes, etc. but enough to tide everyone over. We made use of the fitness center for over an hour and also enjoyed the hot tub and pool. Pool temperatures are almost always too cold for me but this was perfect. The water was a little dirtier than we’d have liked but we tried to ignore it. The hotel is located in walking distance to a few fast food places and a few others are just a short drive. There’s not much as far as a sit down meal. This hotel was bright and fresh looking and we had no problems. What was a long and difficult traveling day was soon forgotten just by enjoying the hotel the following day. Great job IHG!!
A good stay

I specifically chose this because they ARE serving hot breakfast again. The breakfast was solid with lots of options. The bed was comfy. I did find it weird they had a divan in the room instead of a couch.

Very nice stay. The staff was very helpful & pleasant. My wife had bought tickets online for the West Virginia State Penitentiary (our destination for the next day) but needed to print them. The staff (in particular Jenna) went out of the way to help us get that done.
