First sign at check in that this was going to be a great stay were Scott Lyon and Josh. They helped with dinner recommendations and site seeing attractions. They found hours, directions and tables at restaurants. Everyone better than the next. Sherri at the bar was a great bartender and conversationalist and extolled the virtues of her town. She squeezed her own lime juice for my wife's drinks and we would gladly come back for more. The parking garage is free and adjacent to the hotel. Don't forget the water show one evening behind the hotel, another thank you to Scott.
The Marriott brand will not clean and make up your room unless you specifically ask. Scott did warn us and took care of our need for fresh towels. They have reintroduced the free buffet breakfast.
This is your place to stay in Wichita.

Central with easy access for exploring

It is zero (0), yes, zero degrees outside as I type this. But thankfully the parking garage adjacent to the hotel is free and a quick walk into the lobby. In any other given day it is only a mile or so to the old town location for dinner or a drink. Today I drove. Also, I'm traveling during COVID, so making my isolation at this property and this computer somewhat a descent solitude. The restaurant "lounge" / bar is closed till March due to Covid, but it does look like it would be nice and convenient once it is all open again. The pool and gym; however, have managed to stay open. Masks are required on the property. Some benefits, free HBO Go, no log in required for all the streaming madness you can manage. Netflix and Amazon Prime are also options from the in-room television, but, logging in is required foe those services.
After that it is a hotel. Clean rooms and most importantly, clean bathrooms. The bathroom is the difference between this getting a 4 Star rather than a 5 star. One of the lights flickers in the bathroom (that I in fact have not even brought to the properties knowledge - Covid, social distancing and all), but I will. The yellow flickering sort of reminds me of being in one of those horror films when ghosts appear. This does not have the ghostly vibe, just a reference for the review.
I would stay here again. Immediate access to the freeway, convenient if coning in late from the airport as well without the airport noise.
Clean and Modern

This is our 4th hotel on this trip and I really liked the room in this hotel the best. It was very modern, had accessible outlets and USB ports, a decent view, and a big TV that was easy to use. The bathroom was very nice. It had a walk in shower that was very spacious. They did charge us $4.50 fee for some sort of “Waterwalk District Fee” which we were not expecting since we booked through A third party and had never been charged an extra fee before since using this third party, but I’m ok with it since it was such a nice property.
Worth getting off the interstate for
Reviewed 1 December, 2020
My wife, 3 boys, and I recently stayed one night at this Fairfield as we traveled back to our house in suburban Denver. It was kind of a last-minute booking (within a week of the stay) and the other properties in town we would normally stay at as a family with kids, were either out of reasonable distance from the interstate or were booked up.
I really like the location of this Fairfield. It is in downtown Wichita, but very easy to get to from US 54/400 and just about a mile west of I-135. One of the best features is the onsite parking garage that guests can use for free! I definitely can't find that in Denver!
The only flaw I could see from this location is no hot tub. I really like hot tubs and I just do not understand why newer hotels are being built without hot tubs. This is right off a major traveling route. Weary travelers do demand a hot tub as a way to kick back after a long day on the road and mingle with other travelers. They do have a nice swimming pool, but we'll leave that to the kids.
Otherwise, everything went smoothly, the room was spacious, breakfast was good, if we do make Wichita a stop-for-the-night, we will definitely be back to this Fairfield!
