More about the hotel
Clean and Modern
This is our 4th hotel on this trip and I really liked the room in this hotel the best. It was very modern, had accessible outlets and USB ports, a decent view, and a big TV that was easy to use. The bathroom was very nice. It had a walk in shower that was very spacious. They did charge us $4.50 fee for some sort of “Waterwalk District Fee” which we were not expecting since we booked through A third party and had never been charged an extra fee before since using this third party, but I’m ok with it since it was such a nice property.
Worth getting off the interstate for
My wife, 3 boys, and I recently stayed one night at this Fairfield as we traveled back to our house in suburban Denver. It was kind of a last-minute booking (within a week of the stay) and the other properties in town we would normally stay at as a family with kids, were either out of reasonable distance from the interstate or were booked up. I really like the location of this Fairfield. It is in downtown Wichita, but very easy to get to from US 54/400 and just about a mile west of I-135. One of the best features is the onsite parking garage that guests can use for free! I definitely can't find that in Denver! The only flaw I could see from this location is no hot tub. I really like hot tubs and I just do not understand why newer hotels are being built without hot tubs. This is right off a major traveling route. Weary travelers do demand a hot tub as a way to kick back after a long day on the road and mingle with other travelers. They do have a nice swimming pool, but we'll leave that to the kids. Otherwise, everything went smoothly, the room was spacious, breakfast was good, if we do make Wichita a stop-for-the-night, we will definitely be back to this Fairfield!
Great Time!!
This hotel was a really good place to stay. Great location to get to many things and different shopping for everyone to enjoy. Only 2 negative things. 1. This area is going through a lot of new constructions. 2. Wichita has a homeless problem that is getting larger every day. Was no problem with them, but a large presence in this area. I would rate it 4 1/4 stars out of 5.
Real Hospitality in Wichita
GREAT property with friendly, professional staff starting with Nic (the GM) and every team member I met. I was in town for work at a hospital and was extremely impressed with their efforts to combat COVID 19. Great park in their backyard and a one block stroll to Wichita’s lovely river walk. Thanks Nic! Your property and staff are super! I’m a 2,000 night Marriott guy so I recognize quality when I see it. JG
Out of touch
I understand we are in a crazy covid time. Hotels who rely very heavily on business travelers and conferences are struggling. This hotel is no exception. I've been a Marriott guy for 20+ years and receive pgrades without asking but not here. I arrived at 7pm and realized I was being put in a basic room while it's obvious the place is empty. When I inquired about an upgrade, I was told they don't upgrade to a suite in case they get a walk in. It's covid times, a Wednesday and it's 7pm. What? I spoke with the general manager today who reinforced that position. This hotel cannot be more out of touch
