More about the hotel
Clean, new, and a great value
This was my first stay at a Tru property and I was pleased with the stay. The room was very new and modern feeling. It was perfectly clean. Yes, the rooms are small, but we were only here for one night and found the room to be fun and sufficient. Small desk and no dresser, but the storage racks and hooks are very functional. I liked the large window and we found the bed to be extremely comfortable, honestly one of the best we've had at a Hilton property recently. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Good water pressure with interesting squeeze wall-mounted soap dispensers. Rooms on the front side of the hotel have views of Seaworld towards the right. We had checked in online, so we had limited interactions with the staff, but they were always friendly when passing thru the lobby. Breakfast was decent considering COVID. It consisted of a breakfast box with a bagel, yogurt and two hard-boiled eggs. There were toppings for the bagels along with fruit and muffins packaged separately. Free, decent coffee available 24/7. Overall, we found this to be an excellent value for one night. With tax, we paid about $75 and were very satisfied with our stay. I would happily stay at this or another Tru property again for a short stay,
Great Hotel and staff
I am a long time Hilton member but the first time staying at a Tru. It was a wonderful experience. The hotel was very clean with great products and attention to conservation. All the staff members were very friendly and helpful especially Andrew at the front desk and the manager Matthew. He went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful and obviously has a passion for his work and training great service for his employees. I would recommend this property if you were in the area.
Solid place for stay Universal Studios and SeaWorld visitors
Matt who typically worked every night we were there (at the front counter) was fantastic. We were there from Thursday thru Sunday. Matt was very responsive to questions and allowed us to switch rooms due to a noise problem. That noise problem came from another guest leaving the hotel for hours out of time and their small dog barking non-stop. I blame the dog owner for this problem and not the hotel. This hotel is pet friendly so those things can happen. Tru Hilton did a great job with COVID and safety as everyone wore masks, breakfast was served in to go boxes and rooms used were spaced out from one another. The doors for the rooms shut loud so if you are a light sleeper, you might get woke up in the morning when people leave their rooms. There was a contactless check-in option if you downloaded the Hilton app. I couldn't get it to work but I also didn't bring it up at the hotel either. I think this is great value, newer hotel, in a sea of hotels for the area. It is close to Seaworld and Universal Studios but I don't think too terribly far for Disney. You probably will have around a 20 minute or less commute to any of those attractions. We didn't visit any of those attractions but saw signs for them nearby. Since there is so many hotels in this area, be careful driving as the congestion and unsafe driving is heavier in this general area than other parts of Orlando. I think this is due to the amount of out of town people congregated in one area.
Typically stay at WDW but Tru Hilton Orlando is now a must
Very friendly staff! Despite covid it was an awesome stay. Very clean and good breakfast. Plenty for kids of all ages to do when hanging at the hotel. We plan on staying here when we come back down in March
Great for antimaskers!
I stayed at a Tru before during a road trip and they’re seemingly the perfect hotel to stay during covid due to the simplicity. I chose the hotel for that very reason. However, on 12/21 at about 4 pm when I parked I watched as a man walked into the hotel with his mask under his chin. I waited a couple minutes before going in and I immediately saw the same man leaning up against the counter with his mask in the same spot. I said I wasn’t going to be checking in due to that to the person behind the counter. I call to speak to the manager so I could cancel my stay without cost due to the negligence, and the man tells me he is the manager on duty and was the man behind the counter. He begins excusing the negligence due to “its Florida, it’s hard...” I live in Florida, if businesses enforce it then people follow suit. I’m told that I need to contact Expedia and so I do and they contact the hotel and cancel it. I then began to look at other hotels to go to. In the hour or so of doing all this (and essentially making me effectively waste a day instead of going to Disney), I watched: - a woman without a mask in sight walk into the building and grab something from her room and walk back out again without a mask - the same man without a mask come from the gas station with a plastic bag again with his mask below his chin - at least 4 people (neither of those two) walk/stand around without masks. I get that it can be tiring for people to remind others and it’s unfair to have one person tasked with the job, but I absolutely will never be back. I won’t stay at a Hilton either in general because I don’t trust their cleanliness practices. Chose to go to a Disney resort instead, where everyone is wearing a mask even the tiny children.
