Hotel of Germany

Reviewed 20 april, 2022

Came here for a conference just the other week. Beds were comfortable enough. Toilets were okay. Hygiene was good. Food was great and price too! Staff could be friendlier. May come here again in the not too distance future. Room walls were a bit thin

Ultra large hotel

Reviewed 16 january, 2022

Large conference style hotel, with hundreds of rooms. Have visited multiple timed over the years. Last visit was during Corona measures, hotel was handling this as well as could be. Conveniently located within walking distance of slopes. Rooms are spacious and would hold 2 adults and 2 kids easily. Rooms are slightly dated but not too bad. Beds are probably the worst I’ve had in any hotel. Add-on beds are essentially couches with hard buttons in the middle. The full bed has ultra-hard mattresses, which made sleeping difficult for all of us. There is a pool and sauna on site which for my stay were fine, but would be way too small with full occupation. Hotel offers 2 buffet style restaurants, one was open during my stay. Quality of offered options was at mediocre “hospital” level. Desserts were slightly above. Breakfast was acceptable. I remember this being better in the past, but Corona may have impacted available choices. Overall, this hotel would be acceptable for a family with 2 small children for a long weekend. I will probably start looking somewhere else.

Food excellent, reception friendly - service terrible

Reviewed 26 september, 2019

Had shirts, trousers and suits for dry cleaning. It came back as if it went through a tumbler. The form says "Wäscheservice", well, what do you expect for a suit, surely not to be washed!!! The shirts not folded and ironed that looked as if a 4 year old had worked on it. trousers not ironed at all. If the waiters walk by - hold your plate, because they don't ask if you are finished. They pull the plate right from under your nose. It used to be great - have been here for at least 7 years, but this time it was worst ever. No safe, no water cattle in the room...

Mouse in the room!!!

Reviewed 10 august, 2019

There was a mouse walking through my room in the third floor. It’s 3:50 am now, and I still haven’t slept a bit this night. I don’t like the idea of mouse walking over me when I sleep! I saw the mouse at around midnight. Went down to the reception to ask for a different room. “The hotel is officially booked out, sorry!!!” And no more interest in resolving this situation. And just in case the reception staff cannot book the suites (which I offered to pay full extra price for, just because I need a little bit of sleep before the 12 hour drive towards the east I have tomorrow (actually today)) but simply coz only hotel management can approve booking of a suite, once again, no solution. But where is management of the hotel at midnight...? Lol, you guessed it. In their beds. I asked the receptionist to at least get the plastic pool chair for laying (sorry don’t know how it’s called in English, basically that thing, people use to lay on when sunbathing). Of course, everything is locked and nobody can touch it or go there or simply anything. Brilliant. Sauerland Stern Willingen Upland has earned its “stern” star. I end up in a lounge, connecting two armchairs, to serve as my bed tonight. Btw (and this is not sarcastic) the kitchen is perfect. That team and cook there should get a Michelin’s star. Fantastic food, loving every single bite. But how can you guys not care about a guest who is asking for help, solution and you don’t even care to stand up from the chair to look around to fix something for a guest who paid for the room. The receptionist is kind but “anti-solution” focused. Dear management, next time, could you please let me know about uninvited guests in advance? Thereby I can book few extra rooms so that the nice can hang out there and I can peacefully rest. I guess that is the original idea behind hospitality and hotel industry in general...? Maybe I’m just so ignorant and again I missed the new trend in hotel industry. Sauerland Stern is a true Trendsetter. Hope the mice feels comfy, though. I wouldn’t like it to feel any discomfort. Please, don’t even entertain the idea of caring and helping your guests! That could set a bad precedence in this new era of rights equality. You don’t want the mice to start complaining about guests sleeping in their beds... That would be a disaster!!!! Seriously guys? Are you for real? Take down those stars on your hotel!!! Hide them in basement because that’s where they belong. Are you for real that I should wait the whole night until the management comes to work...so they can make their mighty decision? I guess “someone” has a hard time managing ...? You are a joke!
