Shockingly bad owners. The right property group took over thus hotel for our stay and have just blamed previous owners for everything that went wrong taking no responsibility for the fact that they now own it. We didn't get a family room as booked, we had to waste time trying other rooms all unsuccessful so we then had to sleep in separate rooms. They informed me they were sorry and would be in touch however they have then completely ignored me and not done what they said they would. I would avoid.

As other recent reviews have mentioned, this has changed hands and our experience of a guesthouse being run at a distance wasn't a good one. I'll be contacting the new company in due course for further feedback on another issue but suffice it to say that a room with inadequate heating during a December stay in the lakes was far from ideal. The shower was the high point, being hot and powerful. Any thoughts of breakfasting in the kitchen, as suggested by a pre-stay email were discarded as this also appeared to be unheated too. Overall, not somewhere we would choose to stay again in its present form.

Hotel has been taken over and is now called The Lakes Manor. We booked under the previous ownership (Field House Guest House) in August on booking.com. Seen a few reviews saying people were having their bookings cancelled last minute so we tried to contact the hotel and got nowhere. Arrived at the hotel and there were no workers present. Got passed from pillar to post until the maintenance person and housekeeper managed to contact the main office of the new owners after 30/45 mins of trying. Their phone numbers were on a notice on the front door of the hotel. They managed to sort our booking out, but they were unaware of our stay as our booking did not transfer to their new booking system. Both were helpful but for a short time it looked like we weren’t going to have a room for NYE after travelling three hours to get there. The room was actually nice inside, very comfy bed but quite cold and the radiator didn’t work properly, leaving us cold at times.

Was supposed to be staying here tomorrow for the New Year. Unfortunately, I have just woke up to several emails from 3am this morning that our stay has been cancelled due to being overbooked. We have many things booked already for our stay, and to be told in the early hours of the day before by booking.com customer service team is out of order. Booking.com gave us an alternative, which is not near to our desired location, and have said they will reimburse us for another hotel by £25.. I have been looking for alternative stays which are well out of our price range. This is just unfair to do this the day before New Year’s Eve I am so disappointed.

Christmas booking

I made the booking for a Christmas getaway for 2 nights in October. Was really looking forward to it and a month before,an agency called me to say they've taken over the property but my reservation was still fine . I paid the reservation and 5 days before the trip,they cancelled the reservation and no explanation for it. They told me to contact Booking.com to get the refund and when Booking.com said I can rebook it,they refused.The agency is called The right property and they also sent me a dodgy email to pay by bank transfer after I paid it by Booking.com website.They literally ruined my Christmas trip and didn't care at all
