My fiancee and myself stayed here. It was the first time we had gone to a bed and breakfast and I can say it won't be our last. Alida was so nice, friendly and very helpful. The accommodations were immaculate. The bed was super comfortable and we had a great view from our private balcony. We were unable to attend breakfast, so Alida made a little to go box of her blueberry muffins, they were absolutely outstanding. If you go any place to stay in Woodstock, I totally recommend this.

This is a grand home (mansion!) with stunning architecture throughout, as well as, pristine and spotless. Alida was very warm and hospitable, showing us the whole house and giving us its' historical significance which made our stay even richer. Breakfast was lovely. Would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Sock Feet and Fabulous
Reviewed 19 august, 2019
It may seem a tad strange to be asked to take your shoes off the instant you come in the door, but then this wonderful old 1895 mansion was once a convent so you can easily imagine Mother Superior making that rule. However, sock feet ( slippers are welcome) is a tiny quirk and well worth accepting to enjoy a stay at Chateau La Motte. The building is a prize, and is located on what may be the most appealing street in Woodstock. It has been restored to its original beauty - ask the owners, Alida & Francois, for some history. They are most obliging. This guest house has full modern conveniences, with total comfort added, and the rooms are large and well appointed. The owners go full out to accommodate the wishes of every guest, so if you have quirks of your own, and we all do, removing your shoes in return for their favours can actually make you feel a bit special.
Perfect for a Romantic Getaway

My husband and I stayed at Chateau la Motte on our wedding night and it was perfect! We were in the Joubert Honeymoon Suite located on the 3rd floor which was stunning. We were greeted by Alida upon arrival, who showed us to our room, and gave us two bottles of chilled champagne to celebrate. The suite was beautifully appointed with a king size bed, TV, and chairs. There is a private balcony with two chairs and a table as well. This room has one of the most beautiful fireplaces I have ever seen. It does not function, but it adds so much visible appeal to the room. The balcony doorway has a screen door, which we enjoyed as it allows fresh air into the suite without inviting in bugs. We stayed in early June - the night was warm, but not hot, and we slept comfortably with the balcony door opened. There is a window air conditioner for this room, which I suspect would be needed in mid-summer. The bed was one of the most comfortable mattresses I've slept on. The en-suite is anyone's dream! Fantastic jacuzzi tub - shampoo, conditioner and body wash supplied, as well as a luxurious goat's milk bubble bath. One wall is lined with windows, so if you choose to open the blinds it is wonderfully bright with natural light. We were offered a later breakfast as we were a honeymoon couple. There was a spread of muffins, jams, fresh fruit, granola, milk, coffee, tea, juice etc. Alida prepared a delicious quiche as well. The thing that sets it apart from other hotels and B&B's was the setting. Breakfast was served at a large dining table, that had each place setting intricately laid out with nice china. We were very interested in learning about the history of the home, so Alida showed us some of the information they've put together, which they keep in the sitting room/library (where guests are invited to spend their time). She also took us on a tour of the home. We would happily stay in any of the guest rooms she showed us. The whole home is beautiful. My husband and I have already decided to that we would like to make it an annual anniversary trip to stay at Chateau la Motte, so I would highly recommend it to anyone! It's the perfect place for a quiet, romantic getaway, especially if you enjoy unique accommodations and/or historical architecture and buildings.
