Legendary

Reviewed 25 january, 2023

It's the most legendary hotel you may find in Xi'an - it's a historical building but fully renovated inside to match the brand of Sofitel Legend (there are only a handful of hotels under this brand worldwide, the other ones in Amsterdam, Aswan, etc.) They use Hermes bath amenities and Evian as complimentary bottled water, which is a plus. Only drawback is that the hotel feels a little bit short-staffed (e.g., during the happy hour time). Also, I paid around 50 dollars extra to change to a twin room from a king room, which is a bit wired.

Elegant tranquility

We stayed here for three nights during our visit to Xian and enjoyed our stay immensely. The service is attentive and we were well looked after. We particularly enjoyed the daily happy hour with complimentary cocktails and canapes. The hotel provides an elegant and tranquil sanctuary after bracing the crowds at some of the historical sights. The sense of history is tangible and we were given a personal tour of the small hotel museum. My younger daughter enjoyed the indoor pool, which is light and has a pleasant view of the park. We all enjoyed the location - easy walking distance to the ancient wall and Muslim market.

Great stay with helpful staff!

Had a great experience at the Sofitel hotel! Staff, and Tommy in particular, were fantastic with arranging drivers, museum tickets, etc. and really went above and beyond to help make our stay in Xi’an a memorable one. A hotel driver took us to the mausoleum site near the airport and made sure we didn’t miss the best parts. Tommy helped us arrange all our museum tickets on our phones, and then rearranged them when we made a mistake. Several people at the hotel helped me look around when I thought I had lost my phone. We also received an upgrade to our room upon arrival. Really can’t say enough positive things about the hotel and level of customer service. Would recommend staying here!

Brilliant stay and amazing service.

Was not expecting a lot from a weekend stay in Xian to see the Terracotta Warriors but was absolutely delighted at this hotel. Staff were excellent and a special mention to Danny (hotel manager) and Frank (concierge) who both went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Top people who didn't baulk at any of our silly requests including wrapping up our porcelain pottery purchased at the market. Rooms were amazing and large. We are a family of 5 so had 2 rooms. The kids enjoyed running between the rooms so apologize to any of the other guests for the constant patter of feet! If you're lucky enough do go for the upgrade where they serve snacks and drinks at 530 pm. Well worth the extra money as the drinks and foods substantial. Breakfast is also very good and there's some very good local options that you can order - I'd strongly suggest you try those. Small gripe was the eggs Benedict was not that good with a poor choice of bread (almost like a burger bun) and the waffles over cooked but everything else was very good. Only minor issue I had! Restaurants associated with the hotel were also very good especially the local Chinese restaurant. Very very good local noodle offering that was great Value for money. There was also a nice Japanese restaurant which was pretty good but next time I'd go straight to Chinese restaurant. There's also an excellent gym, very clean nice sets of weights and machines. The pool also has a life guard full time which was comforting to know. And he was very attentive watching out for our kids the entire time. I was impressed he was so attentive! There is also a garden behind the hotel and it's very central to the key tourist areas. Overall probably the best hotel I've stayed at in China with well trained staff.
