My wife and I returned to the England on 24th November following 14 nights at the San Andrea hotel in Xlendi, on the beautiful island of Gozo. The hotel is in a wonderful position on the small promenade, we chose a room with a sea view and were greatly impressed the moment we opened the door. We had two balconies, one with a view of the idyllic harbour and Xlendi bay. Although a little more maintenance would improve the rooms, it in no way detracted from the fantastic experience we had during our stay. The San Andrea is a family owned and operated three star hotel, and all of the staff from reception to restaurant are the most friendly and accommodating anyone could wish for. The three chefs provide the best quality meal's, whether it's breakfast or evening. The waiting on staff are simply wonderful, especially Milan, Jovan and the very sweet Alexandra. Going the extra mile comes so naturally to them. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, it's definitely an oasis of calm. Highly recommended, Keith and Dorothy.

Mixed feelings with this hotel but mostly good. We paid £63.50 a night for a sea view room. The room was pretty small and a little dated but the view is well worth the extra. Very powerful shower! Breakfast starts late at 8am when diving meeting time is 8.30am. Not a problem on the first day but we waited 25 mins for food to be served on the second day despite the server being aware that we only had 1/2 an hour. Not a good start to the day having to wolf down a full English in 5 mins flat! Xlendi as a destination is a little disappointing at first after seeing such beautiful photos, there are a few hotels that are half finished and work going on on both sides but the place has charm despite the building work. By the end it was my favourite place to be. Swimming in the bay, the coastal cliff walks to the tower and beyond, the caves and best of all the sunsets. Absolute heaven (in winter at least) when it wasn’t too busy. I did find it strange that some of the restaurants seemed to be open only in the day and a few only at night. Pirates Galley highly recommended. When we saw it earlier in the day it didn’t look like much but the food was so good, we ate there both nights. Fresh tuna steak, absolutely delicious!

We stayed 4 nights on a HB basis and we had the government subsidy which reduced the price. We wanted to experience different parts of Gozo, so stayed in 2 locations. Xlendi is very busy and a small Bay. The hotel reception area is very small, the bedrooms are tiny, there is a rooftop area which is not advertised so no one uses it and we didn't discover this until the last day. Pre-arrival: I sent 2 emails and they were ignored Arrival: There are cultural factors at play as the Maltese are quite direct, so it comes across as quite abrupt. Actually, this is just because English is a 2nd or 3rd language and the Receptionist warmed to us the longer we stayed. She was (Mary-isabel (I think)) very helpful, patient and kind once we had checked in and she was less busy. Room: It is tiny and if you have a lot of luggage, good luck ...... we used the TV cupboard to store our clothes, but we kept banging our heads. The bathroom has no area for you to put your toiletries. It takes some getting used to. The room was clean, and the staff came every day. Restaurant: We were so disappointed .... we had such high expectations. There was no vegetarian option on the first evening for the main meal. I complained and was told I could order from the A la carte menu. This went on for 4 nights - for me it became so repetitive and there was so little choice. This is a big meat/fish/seafood eating island - the veggie options were better on the parade. We were bothered by the smoking - if you are eating and people around you start smoking and you are under cover, it ruins the meal. There was a big sign "no smoking" but it wasn't enforced. You should reserve the table you like in advance especially at the weekend, where if you are HB you are 2nd priority. Location: Xlendi is a great base for doing snorkelling, although we didn't see many fish. There's no where to sunbathe except on the promenade benches where people are walking up and down all the time. We used our balcony. Concierge: The hotel has a good network of drivers for trips, we visited Rabat and also the Ta Dbiegi Craft Village via the hotel, and this was very good. If I were to visit again I would ask myself if the location of the hotel is the key factor as there were other aspects that were not enjoyable. Covid-Testing-RAT: Use Gozoosteopathy in Rabat ! Building/Construction - if you book a side view room you will see/hear the construction noise. It is unavoidable.

Loved staying at the San Andrea. The Staff made it so special. The rooms are not massive but enough space. The bed was so comforatble. Loved the bath with lots of hot water. The breakfast was exactly what I wanted and they let me eat a bit early so I could get ready for a days diving. Got in the habit of going for a pre breakfast swim as the bay is right on the doorstep. Couldn't be in a better location for the water and the dive centre.
Great location and service

We stayed for a week here and really loved it. The reception staff was very helpful. Marisabelle accommodated our requests and helped to make our stay even more enjoyable. Our sea view room was spacious enough and comfortable. We also enjoyed the restaurant, the food is nice and the waiting staff has been very friendly and helpful too. The location is great with the sea and various other restaurants on your doorstep. The nearby construction was annoying because of the noise but hopefully it will be completed soon.
